funny how something as simple and innocent as an architectural contest could be messed up so much by nationalists that it needs a recount.

Definitely a recount needed. About 2 hours ago, Guangzhou IFC was winning by about 100. Now it is tied with ESB.

The same goes for BoC Tower and the Willis.

I am a fan of all those buildings, but this is really getting out-of-hand.

Yaaaaaaaay, the Sears is coming close to the Burj!

Although I voted for BK, I would like to see the Willis as a winner of those two in secret. In a close win. I couldn't just overlook the greatness of the Burj and give a vote to the Sears, followed by emotional attach for all those years. I was rational.

Now, I actualy support the potential win of BoC. After a while I would maybe vote for it instead of giving a vote to CB. Maybe... I can not say, like them both very much...

But, "ESB Case"...I do not understand... Even when admit that tastes are quite different.

Oh, and concerning the matter of "nationalism" here on the site, involved in the contest, I do not know what to say. Firstly I thought it was unfortunately all about that, and was very disappointed. But now I am afraid to say that, 'cause maybe it is not about that. Anyway, I try not to look in that way, and suggest to you to do the same. The world seems to be nicer then.

Actually for at least 2 hours, the GIFC and ESB have been within 10 of each other. I don't think they were ever more than 50 apart at the most.

Sears has never been ahead of the Burj unfortunately, and as far as I've seen has been about 100 behind for at least a day.

BoC vs the Chrysler is an odd one, because I haven't looked at that since the first day, and now it's all changed, so yeah, that one is strange.

It's an open-public opinion based "tournament" for buildings. That should tell us all we need to know.

While I'd like to think the voters would be offering critical and objective assessments, knowing full well they've likely researched only a few of these and have experienced even less, the reality is this is little more than a popularity contest for tall-building porn. C'est la vie.

Even while I try to discuss, I'm taking this with a HUGE grain of salt. After all, just because a few hundred numb strangers might hold a different opinion than mine won't impact anyone or change the status of these great structures.

It is what it is.

Well, hiding skyscrapers which I'm very fond of...hmmm...obviously not possible. But, I think that is the reason why I'm here. To spread those "secrets" across the globe.

I'm just remembering those proposed once (one was actually under construction), which topics are even closed. Chicago Spire & Russia Tower. It would be soooo much more interesting and exciting if we would have them finished till now and voting for them, too.

I even forgot Chicago Spire by now.

AGREE. a mod (ikops) already pointed this out. Let's hope they're investigating or working on it!

Just a few of them: aaaaa, aajj, aajjaj, aakk, aakkkaa, aall, aaq1818, ab325, ab328, ab750, abx3, abz4, ajjaaj, bb1818bb, bb730, bbj, bbjjbb, bbz4, bvvb, fjfjfjfj, S280, S500, S600, vss, vvbb, vxx, vzz, wkk, wnn, woo, yyyttt, ...

That's already 31 names and that's not even all of them! When it's close to 50%/50%, every vote counts!

Not only that, there seems to be some stealth votes as well. The names for both columns look similarly long, but BoC doesn't look like it has 105 more names!

Wow, if Chinese nationalists are the ones responsible for such obvious and dishonorable cheating, that's pathetic and hilarious behavior. I feel so bad for them. My first reaction when I saw all the names was to laugh really hard, lol. Why are they trying so hard to make people think they're better? Is there an inferiority complex inherent in sino-centrism? Anyways, can't wait for the recount.

EDIT: just noticed that all these suspicious usernames are behind the jump in Willis Tower vs. Burj. So it's probably not Chinese nationalists, just a loser with too much time on his/her hands.

something that might help in future things like this is a chart under each competitor showing the votes received over the course of the 1v1, similar to YouTube's total views chart for their videos. It could show you suspicious jumps in votes.

Fake registrations only to vote? Maybe multiple ones?

I've witnessed some sudden poll results changes, like the ESB catching up with Burj, and ESB losing the lead.

That would be fine, if not by the fact many votes seem suspicious. What do you think about voters registered with users like these for Bank of China Tower - among many other suspicious usernames:

aaaaa, aajj, aajjaj, aakk, aakkkaa, aall
bim316, bimm316, bimmm760
fjfjfjfj
jjjj2882, jjjjffff, jjlljj, jkjk

No problems if the voting just got the other way, but I'm a bit suspicious some people are double-registering (should be easy to tackle giving them a brig) and maybe others are creating usernames for the solely purpose of voting (cheating, but more difficult to tackle).

I think the Willis Tower is being used as a pawn to get rid of the Burj. The Willis has a lot of those suspicious users like aaaaa and what not, who show up voting for BoC and GIFC.

I'm not mad for the Burj, but if people are just boosting Sears to get rid of it, that's not on.

Some more observations about the suspicious names:

#1 they all have generic names that real users are unlikely to create
#2 they all vote at the same time - their votes simultaneously register
#3 they all vote for the same building
#4 if one is there, they are all there. Never happens that some are missing
#5 there's at least 35 of them, enough to make a crucial 1% or 2% shift
#6 so far, they have supported GIFC, BoC, and Willis

and that's about all I've noticed so far. Whoever is doing this, IS REALLY BAD AT IT.

Well, now I am quite confused and understand nothing what is happening. Ok, I thought at the beginning that someone wants to get rid of "an American symbol of economical power" (as well as a symbol of all skyscrapers) - ESB. Then I thought it's obvious with CB, too. Or, it was simply because they were "just history", and again representing American history as well, not only history in building skyscrapers. But, when using now "an American 'scraper" against the one of our-own-time-recorder BK, I do not understand the intentions of those ones (or just the one) who do this in purpose.

What is going on, if you might have an idea?
