Nice one. If you could make a banner out of it (size 719 x 123) I'll stick it up.

For all the wrangling of hands and gnashing of teeth I'm pleased at the pairing for the final. IMO it's the best combination for the final: One that is the penultimate example of a highly artistic period and that inspired so many structures that followed, vs. one of the highest forms of modern skyscrapers that built both upon it's predecessors in form but with an unyielding contemporary and futuristic verve. Both are iconic and were very progressive for the times and settings upon construction, and both required innovative structural design to become reality. Both are also done with "high style" in architectural form (with classic propotionality and symmetry), incorporating grand public presence without primarily serving as public spaces. Both also strike a fine balance between ornamentation and functionality. One suspects Vitruvius would approve of both with ease!

I'm highly content knowing that these are finalists, regardless of the outcome. Either is certainly a worthy recipient of the recognition.

Cheers.

Edit: Those posters guy4 has made really shows Pelli's homage to the Chrysler. Fate?!!

We could hope people actually know something about the buildings and that they're not relying on just the poster?

These have their own sticky threads in the Hall of Fame section.

Tell me about it!

@GunnerJacket: indeed well said. It's good two have to finalists that each represent a different era and a continent.

Can anyone, at the end of the final, put up the numbers of the votes according to country/city?? And if possible, each 'game'?
Would be interesting to see how it affects the results of each 'game'.

I must say, I am very happy with how this turned out, but the question is... which is better, the chicken or the egg? We know which came first from this one, but its a real tough one for me.

How about a close up of one of those eagles on the CB vs a close up of one of the spires on Petronas?
