I think people should be more forward looking, i do not get this hype for Chrysler building on this forum myself. Personally i find EBS better, both in terms of height and aesthetics.

If Chrysler wins over Burj then the only thing i can say is that people's aestheticism is still staying in the 1930s. This is sort of like choosing the 1960 Mustang over a modern Ferrari.

Just personal opinions..

IMHO, this isn't any antique competition, how long the building get built should not be take into consideration, I'm not Fan of certain part of a building, I'm looking for the whole package, some hyper overrated building just doesn't do it for me. Too bad

It's all to each of their own.

Personally the Dubai supertalls don't do it for me, nothing special about them. Just a cluster of chaos.

I thought Shun Hing Square would be ahead of U.S. Bank tower, but the second one has gotten more votes... uh well, that's a matter of taste

I have an issue evaluating renders x finished buildings. All buildings, from a single-detached house to a mile-high proposed supertall, look better on moder renders than in real life.

Except if I really don't like the completed building, chances are I'm voting for what already exist.

Point is some of the buildings showed as renders are actually already built. However they seem to have chosen to show the render instead of a photo...

just an idea... but since this tournament is every four years, there could be other tournaments during that time, e.g. when the uefa euro cup is on, there could be a supertalls euro world cup? and the same for other regional competitions.

this. i still dont get it how some 300m boring buildings whose spire made it only a supertall could even have been a tough opponent for a modern building. i just didnt get it. and i never though the chrysler building would come far at all, but well.

Isn't this exactly what Jan was doing?

I agree, renders pretty much always exceed the real structure considerably. They're clean, perfectly lit, in an artificial environment - it's just not fair to use them.

Fix the damn comment system

I've said it before, the comment system is really buggy. Like 3 in 4 comments don't go through. Fix it, or at least have the decency to respond...

Chill out bro, it is not easy to manage such a large forum.

It seems that comments that are too long often don't go trough. And I agree it was quite annoying for me several times when I was to write some more detailed respond. So in fact that that I have had to resign.

Seeds and favorites are winning "in straight sets" and almost without any problem, nice tournament ! I look forward to enjoying the semifinals and "title match"...

I don't know if this has been discussed but wouldn't it be better if they changed the pictures of each skyscraper every round. It feels like the same picture in the second round has made the World Cup kinda boring. I know what i'm getting the next day, etc. Is it really that hard to find new skyscraper pictures? New angles, new backdrops, etc, would make it much better imo.

We're talking about a coding issue here, not manual labor. And this is a small thread specifically about the Supertall WC, so assumed those who set it up follow it.

I tried very short 2-3 word sentences to test this, it's not the length. I could imagine they have implemented an erroneous filter (REGEX typo?) which simply discards your message, rather than inform you about non compliance.

Coding is not necessarily easy. Besides, there are many things to take care of in a forum. This is a forum with close to a million visitors on a daily basis, it is very hard to be making sure that everything runs smoothly.

If you want Jan to "have the decency to respond," simply use the private message function, it is here for a reason.

SSC is one of the nicest online communities I've been to. It is a privilege, not a right.

Yeah, I think that's an issue with a setting that checks the string for malicious input, I'll have a look at that. Thanks for pointing out.

Seems like the quarter finals might be the top 8 tallest - #2 Abraj Al Bait Towers + Empire State Building. So being popular all seems to come down to height after all.
