The voting has closed, although it was still possible to vote through the archive pages. I took that one offline for the moment. Final score is Chrysler 949 - 946 Petronas. There are a couple of incidents involving multiple accounts I want to look at since the margin is so thin, but most of these concern Petronas so it seems that Chrysler is the winner.

If one would argue both are winners, I wouldn't disagree.

For me, the winner will always be the Empire State Building. I remember driving up to NYC as a kid, with the view of the huge clutter of buildings from the turnpike, except for one building stsanding tall above the rest, the beautifully illuminated ESB. It was the pinnacle of NYC, with the red, white, and blue lighting at night, dwarfing everything else. It was a truly magical view.

Yeah, but art deco is not my cup of tea to be honest, but I admire ESB as it redefined the meaning of skyscraper forever. But we need to get over it, just like with Chrysler.

Best regards from Prague (which is great example of beautiful city without a supertall )

We need to get over what? Anyway ESB is my third favorite building. Behind 1WTC and Taipei 101.

I hoped the Willis Tower would win.

Btw, I still hope for a ESB-BK duel for the copper medal

Im pretty sure Chrysler building deserve to win over petronas, but Petronas does not deserve to be in the finals, ESB will be a better contestant

Congratulations Chrysler! That was a match-up for the ages.

Some of my future ideas for these contests include...
-City with the best 2nd tallest building
-2000's Cup
-Best Architectural Style
-Best Hotel tower (interested to see that Macau building battle it out with Vegas)
-Best "specific business cluster" such as La Defense, IBC, Canary Wharf, etc (Pudong and the new Guangzhou one are probably tops right now)
-Best Bridge
-Best observation tower
-Most futuristic skyline
-Best skyline transformation since 2000

Would like to see a thread similar to "London vs Frankfurt", but pitting Australian skylines against Canadian skylines (maybe just top 4, Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/Perth or GC vs Toronto/Calgary/Montreal/Vancouver) Would be cool because I always felt like those 2 countries had similar sizes and relatively even skylines.

Also single questions such as "height vs density"

Ok that's it, just brainstorming here but I have somewhere to be so time to stop!

I think Canada vs Australia is a very cool idea! And I don't think there are enough Canadians or Australians on here to mess with the results

I congratulate all Chrysler supporters for your "sportsmanship" win despite the narrow margin.

Overall, it was a good fight between Chrysler and Petronas, but only 1 can be a winner today. We therefore accept the win by Chrysler!

As a Petronas voter and a Malaysian, we once again would like to THANK all our supporters from all around the world, forumers from Asia and my co-forumers from SSC Malaysia. You guys are AWESOME....

When can we expect a banner with the Chrysler Building?

I voted for the Petronas Towers in the final competition, but the Chrysler Building also deserve this title and it got my vote in all previous rounds. Congratulations !

Well, I did vote for Chrysler, too.

Is it already a winner? CONGRATULATIONS!

I would't mind if PTT did it successfully, too...
