They could turn this into a round of 32 by adding towers in like Q1, Soul, Soleil, BHP, Central Park, Bankwest... That would make a good competition for best Australian Skyscraper.

Syney vs Melbourne sounds good, if the Frankfurt vs London works, we'll do that one next.

Some ideas for future one on ones...

1) one on one first high-rise of each city.
2) one on one Latin American metropolis, ej. SP vs MC
3) one on one most bizarre buildings and structures
4) one on one art-decó buildings

Just some thoughts

3 votes. That was pretty close. Good to see my Chrysler Building vote was worth the effort. Though Petronas Towers are an awesome piece of late 20th century architecture, that i have always liked too.

Interesting. I can imagine something like this happening.

Good suggestions guys, thanks. Last week I set up a tournamenmt with the 32 supertalls under construction. Right now I'm setting up a Country Cup where the tallest building in each country go one on one.

We'll sure do a skyline world cup, but the problem is that you want some good criteria to rank them. For a skyline cup, we'll probably use the Rate Our Skylines ranking, lining up the cities with the 64 heighest averages.

Awesome, could you run more than one comp at one, or is that to hard?

There is only one matchup at the time, but as you need a few days in between rounds, it's possible to run multiple tournaments, as we do now.

Sydney vs. Melbourne would be the top 8 buildings by height of both cities.

Still think you should consider the rest of Australia with this one, with a 32 building bracket.

The rivalry between the two is almost the biggest in the world.

I'm reliably informed that the statewide rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales is quite a bit more ferocious than the citywide rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne.

Nup, ever since they were choosing a capital it's been enormous. And then even in 1900's it was Protectionism vs Free trade(vic vs nsw) It's crazy the power struggle the states had.
