Really disappointed with the old product still being served on the 747.

A lack of console means those playing games will constantly disturb the passenger in front of them (first hand experience on a 15 hour flight)

Was really hoping Qantas could swap the 747s out with the A380s (or retrofit them to match the A380)

I'm sure Qantas will iterate towards the right livery in future (just like China Eastern?). The big Qantas writings (mainly the font) looks really awkward.

Qantas to fly non-stop from Australia's Perth to London
Reuters Excerpt
Dec. 11, 2016

Australia's national carrier Qantas Airways Ltd will launch the first regular passenger flight directly linking Australia and Europe when it begins flights from Perth to London with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, the airline said on Sunday.

"When Qantas created the Kangaroo Route to London in 1947, it took four days and nine stops," Qantas chief executive officer Alan Joyce told a news conference in Perth.

"Now it will take just 17 hours from Perth non-stop."

Flights on the 14,498 km (9,000 mile) route will begin in March 2018.

Federal Tourism Minister Steven Ciobo said Qantas would use Perth as a hub for passengers from eastern Australia going to Britain, and the service would boost employment and tourism.

Goodbye to Dubai: Qantas shifts London stopovers to Singapore

Qantas is dropping Dubai from its network and will instead have its Europe-bound aircraft stop over in Singapore, in a major shake-up that repositions it towards the booming Asian market.

The airline said on Thursday it would reroute its daily Sydney - London A380 service to fly via Singapore instead of Dubai from March 2018. That service will replace one of its two daily Sydney - Singapore A330 flights.

I thought the drop in petro prices and the codeshare revenues with EK turned them around.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/busi...5b039959416b89

They are giving all that away even though they can still squeeze out some revenues from EK-bound passengers beyond Dubai. Now they need to focus on Asia-terminating traffic and discounting to fill the seats for the next leg into Europe. Getting into bed with EK was the best thing to do and now the passengers have little reason to fly Qantas unless they go to London, so the other 3X European destinations will be solely on EK?

Qantas passengers left stranded on the tarmac in Dubai after flight from Sydney was delayed for 10 hours WON'T get compensation
Daily Mail Excerpt
Dec. 25, 2017

Passengers who were forced to spend their Christmas stranded on an airport tarmac will not be compensated for the nightmare flight.

Stranded Sydney Qantas passengers on their way to London spent 10 hours on the tarmac in Dubai after heavy fog and mechanical faults forced the plane to divert.

About 450 passengers on QF1, which left Sydney Airport on December 23, were left sitting on the plane after the 14-hour flight, according to News Corp.

Qantas said the flight was diverted to Al Ain International Airport, 150km south of Dubai airport, because of 'heavy fog'.

'Qantas, like all airlines, has been impacted by the heavy fog surrounding Dubai,' a spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.

'We understand that delays are frustrating, particularly at this time of year and we are doing everything we can to ensure customers are able to continue on their way as soon as possible.'

However, it is believed the passengers will not be receiving compensation for the nightmare flight.

A Qantas spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia they provided overnight accommodation for passengers affected by the diversion.
