I really recommend you to watch a summary of the game because the goals were awesome.

Chounz habibi, are you talking about the summary or the whole game?
Oh and btw, especially the last goal of yesterday's match was absolutly amazing. And the game of the day before yesterday, Al-Kahraba vs Al Karkh, had one stunning goal too. |

No I was talking about the summary... I thought you probably had a youtube link or something for the highlights. Or at least just all the goals.. |

.. it was already 3-2 when I started watching.... I think I saw a replay of it though.... was it a free kick by Zaid Khalaf? How many free kicks had zaid khalaf scored over the past year or two? He's amazing at them.... don't know why he hasn't been called up to the NT.... hopefully soon! |

Can some brother or sister tell me where I can find information about the Iraqi football clubs? I must admit that I am no expert on Iraqi football. What are the biggest rivalries? Are Kurdish football clubs also participating? And do Al-Anbar and the Sunni majority provinces have football clubs in the league or are most from Baghdad and the South?

Most clubs are from Baghdad, 11 or 12 clubs. 3 clubs from Kurdistan and the others from the south and north(not Kurdistan).
Not a single club from Anbar is competing in the current season.. they do play in the the division below the Premier League.. Ramadi Club is the biggest one |

The biggest rivalries are between the clubs in Baghdad where Al Zawraa vs Al Qua Jawiya is the biggest. Yes the Kurdish clubs are participating and are doing really well. They have been dominating the league since the post-war in 2003. No, there are no clubs from Anbar, Ninawa, Diyala or Salah ad Din but there are two teams from Kirkuk in the Iraqi Premier League. The majority of the clubs in the Iraqi Premier League are from Baghdad. Only three are from south(Karbalaa, Najaf and Mina'a from Basrah), three from KRG(Arbil, Zakho and Dohuk) and the mentioned from Kerkuk. The rest of the clubs are from Baghdad which are 12 clubs! Also historically the Baghdadi teams have dominated the league. From 75 to 06 only one team from outside Baghdad managed to win the league. It's weird that the other big cities like Mosul and Basra didn't have strong teams and actually still does not have. Correct me if I'm wrong guys as I'm not 100% sure about the information I just came with.

WOW, what nice answers. I learned a lot.
Insha'Allah next time I visit Iraq I will try to make a football club from Al-Anbar, maybe only with members from bedouin tribes. ![]() Maybe in Ar Rutba. ![]() Also, do they have homepages the football clubs? And information about Iraqi second division football and clubs? I am curious to see which teams every region in Iraq has. |
