I've made an entry on Wikipedia on the bridge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelješac_bridge
As I'm not a Croat I don't know very much about all these Peljesac bridge issues (can't read Croatian)... Maybe a Croat could add some more info there? Also copyright free images are very welcome on Wikipedia

Well construction of it is just getting started. Plans have been waiting for such a long time but it is big project after all. It is almost 2.4 km long. Better ever then never
![]() expect construction pics in 2-3 months time 'cause that's when the construction should start if I'm not wrong. That's at least how our prime minister said |

Here are the pictures from couple of days ago
![]() ![]() It's Croatian prime minister on the 1st in grey suit. It is said that in next 100 days some test drills will be made for the support piles. We have big discussions whether we need or don't need that huge bridge, but prime minister and government are resolute - the bridge goes on ![]() here's Croatian topic about it http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=541284 Last edited by Delmat; June 4th, 2009 at 05:38 PM. |

Good to hear. I will be passing by there July 20th or so...can't wait to see the progress! Is the road that goes along Peljesac to the ferry to Korcula being upgraded? I know the ferry will move out of Orebic to get rid of congestion...but the road before than is only 2 lanes and very narrow in most parts.

I spend a lot of my time in a village called Duboka (right next to the construction site for the peljesac bridge) and the two main support pillars have already been built and can be seen protruding out of the water.
These pillars were finished in 2008 but I have not seen much progress since. Apparently they are slowly progressing with undersea works but (due to renewed political opposition from BiH) the main focus is actually getting the A1 to the site so that when they finish the bridge they can open it immediately. |
