Yes, i also wonder why. But Olga Pleshakova has told that after a long analisys, they decided that this layout is optimally for their A380. In my opinion, currently all airlines that use A380 are with a high Business segment demand, like Emirates, BA or Lufthansa. That is why they have many seats in C class. Transaero is not a business class carrier, thats why it should be enough. I guess thats the reason for this layout. I dont know any other airline, that has ordered A380 and that is mostly for a mid-class passengers.

"It's going to be used on the most-popular routes that have the highest passenger traffic," Pleshakova tells Today in the Sky. "So it's Moscow to Thailand, Moscow to the Dominican Republic ... and also to Barcelona in Spain."

Most of the routes they will be used on will be leisure orientated anyway, so they need to pack them in. The economy class seat pitch will be no worse than Qantas.
