I guess its because start date can change yet, maybe they are still deciding with schedule, this route is supposed to be served by SSJ-100 plane. But i am really glad that Moscow will be conected with Krakow with direct line.

I am sure it is not a priority for SU. I dont think that Dublin has a high yield traffic to Russia. S7 proved it.

But the first rule of understanding the airline industry is that high load factors do not equate to high yields. A flight can go out with a 100% load, but that will not mean it is producing a good yield.

To Moscow direct, with Transaero

Transaero is the sole airline from Russia to operate to Kuala Lumpur with one flight weekly.

KUALA LUMPUR: Air travellers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport can now fly to Russia direct with the debut of Transaero Airlines.

Transaero, Russia's second largest airline made its maiden landing in KLIA on Saturday. It is the 57th airline serving Kuala Lumpur.

Transaero is the sole airline from Russia to operate to Kuala Lumpur with one flight weekly. It flies every Friday from Moscow and on Saturdays from Kuala Lumpur using Boeing 777 aircraft with 306 seats configuration.

According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the Moscow-KL direct air link is a result of relentless marketing effort and Tourism Malaysia's aggressive promotion.

Transaero has been operating charter flights to KLIA for the last few years. The airline has created sufficient market demand on this route for it to start scheduled operations.

"Transaero service opens a new market for us and we wish them all the best for their operations to Kuala Lumpur. We look forward for the airlines to stabilise and strengthen their operations to Kuala Lumpur and hopefully, increase their frequency to KLIA soon," MAHB managing director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad said in a statement.

He added that it is MAHB's close cooperation and relationship with Tourism Malaysia as well as the Ministry of Transport's pro-business policies that brought the airline from Russia to Malaysia.

"I anticipate that this strong partnership will continue to reap more success in terms of attracting more airlines to Malaysia."

Transaero's service will provide convenient access between Kuala Lumpur and Moscow and expand two-way trade, investment and tourism for both countries.

In 2011, besides Transaero, KLIA has welcomed Air Koryo and Lion Air, while Egypt Air made a comeback to KLIA.

Transaero operates to major Russian cities and is also the leading carrier to Kazakhstan.

Its network covers many European destinations such as Austria, Cyprus, England, Germany, Greece, Israel and Spain. Transaero also operates flights to major Asian countries like China, Japan, Thailand and India.

Transaero has won the Air Transport World Award in the Airline Market Leadership category.

The Penton Media publishing house and Air Transport World magazine have awarded Transaero with the prize in the Airline Market Leadership category of ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards, the airline reports. AEX.ru

The jury has highly appreciated the sustainable growth of the Russia’s second largest airline, which helped it significantly increase its market share.

The jury has noted that Transaero has increased its passenger turnover 30 times and its passenger traffic - 15 times during the period from 2001 to 2011. Transaero’s rates of growth have significantly exceeded the national average ones last year.

The editor in chief of Air Transport World, Geoffrey Thomas, said: Transaero is the synonym of the word “first” at the Russian market: it was the first totally private airline in Russia; the first Russian carrier operating Boeing aircraft; the first Russian airline to offer business-class service on domestic airlines and implement the Frequent Flyer Program; the first one to sell the electronic tickets and implement the online and mobile check-in».

«Transaero was the first Russian airline to order Boeing 747-8, Airbus A380 and A320neo aircraft last year. Our collective is impressed by Transaero’s attitude to the operating activities aimed at reaching new milestones. We are confident that such approach helps the airline to keep such rates of growth», - he added.

CEO of Transaero, Olga Pleshakova, said: «I am glad that our efforts have been highly appreciated by the well-known professionals from the global aviation industry. Innovations have always resided in Transaero providing the sustainable development and helping meet the requirements of millions of its passengers. I believe that our airline will further strengthen its positions in Russia and at the global market. On behalf of 9000 of Transaero’s employess I thank the jury and editors of Air Transport World for choosing our airline as the leader of the market in 2011».

Achievement Awards is the longest running and most respected airline industry awards event. The awards will be presented for the 38th time in 2012. The solemn ceremony will take place in Singapore in February 2012.
