Speaking of trams, there is just 11 days left for manufacturers to submit bids on the procurement for the new M33 trams.
So we will hopefully get to know what candidates the next tram might end up being

Unless they end up having to redo the whole thing again..

... and to all non-swedish readers I must inform that ÅF stands for "Ångpanneföreningern" which acutally means "the steam boiler society"

Gothenburg are planning up to three aerial tramways across the water to better connect both half's of the city.
The first one (Purple Line) is the one that have been talked about before, it will connect: Järntorget, Lindholmen, Lundby and Wieselgrensplatsen. And it's scheduled to be ready for the Gothenburg 400 year anniversary. THis line will help alleviate the passenger flow when they switch over the tram traffic from the old Göta-Älv Bron to the newer Hisingsbron.

Next one is the yellow line, which will connect: Allhelgonakyrkan, Hjällbo Centrum, Bäckebol and Körkarlens gata in northern Backa, a route that could reduce the travel time between the areas from 41 minutes to about 16 minutes. This one is planned to be built during the 2020's.

Another line that is much further into the future is the third and final Brown Line, which would connect: Svingeln, Gullbergsvass, Ringön and Brunnsbo station.

Each of these lines will cost about 1 billion SEK to build.

Something that we missed - tram extension to Skeppsbron was opened on 16th August and urbanrail.net was updated (see in city centre map):

Is there some urbanrail policy that says that the map must be ugly?

In reality the line from Mölndals Centrum (which probably is missing an s in the map above) doesen't have any curves at all, it's straight up to Korsvägen and the line northwards (to the Ullevi area) continues straight without any curves.

Also the name of the stops "Wawrinskys plats" and "Medicinaregatan" are missing from the big map. It's the stops between "Chalmers" and "Sahlgrenska huvudentré".

At Grönsakstorget the map clearly indicates what directions it's possible to run trams (without reversing) but the new junction at Järntorget is drawn in a way that gives the reader an impression that it's a grand junction although (afaik) it's not.

No, there isn't. And these maps are not ugly, but very simple and informative

Website author knows about these stops, but he can't publish all names on the general map, due to lack of space where to put it. Better solution to this, in my opinion, is to extend central map so you can see tram stops names in detail. And where he knows about these stops? I've got his Tram Atlas Northern Europe and these stops are shown and mentioned

The same you can say about Vasaplatsen tram stop. It indicates, again simplicity of map, and it's very common to show what you call 'grand junction although' not indicates tram route directions. Because you can go anywhere from this stop. But of course, it's not always like that

Hisingen really looks quite neglected when you think about it. hehe

I hope we can get a tramline going to Eriksberg with the new negotiations(Sverigeförhandlingen). Maybe even more important is to get the railway(Hamnbanan - Volvo) and the road decked over though, they act as massive barriers that cuts the districts in two.

Backa could use that tramline it's been talks about to. Getting some better public transport on the island would be a big lift for that whole part of Gothenburg.

Wouldn't it even be possible to form a ringline connecting, f.e. Brunnsparken, Frihamnen, Lindholmen, Eriksberg, (via Älvsborgsbron) Klippan, etc.? That could be quite a tour around the most populated areas located by Göta älv.

From my point of view, a tram tunnel from Järntorget to Lindholmen could be more interesting than the cable cars. Seeing that in a bigger perspective like a line from Järntorget crossing the river and continuing to Hjälmar and Backa.

Hisingen is increasing a lot the population, but the connections with the south remain quite bad, with buses that cannot fit the demand that well any more and beeing able to connect only with two bridges and one ferry. I thinknthat there shoulf be more options (and not a fancy short cable car, but a longer and eficient tram line maybe).
