as bluesky said, in term of sporting facility, yes. indonesia is capable for many world class events. some might need upgrade but we have the fields and the stadium scattered all over the country. we even have the best F1 circuit in oceania.

but in term of accomodation, security, transport, and many other things is not. a county held an international sports event because they want the publicity and income from the events. with no good accomodation, rails etc there will be no income, just billions of spending with no real return. and current indonesia security and messyness will only bring bad publicity. bonek vs hooligans anyone? hehehe

Should be the one who rent (in this case PSSI) who should pay for the damages

btw...
this is a good news for senayan eventhough I prefer they build another brand new stadium to replace old Gelora Bung Karno

You right dude, but itulah habit dari sebagian besar penonton kita....they want to enjoy the game but dont want to pay, yet if their team lose, they do the vandalism.

For instance, by throwing a bottle of their own urine! ghee!

Sleman stadium is now delayed until further notice. I dont know if they are going to continue the project. As a matter of fact, their local government is now limiting the budget for the PSS sleman. So i doubt if the stadium will continue.

Does anyone have the pictures of stadium jalak harupat bandung? the stadium has the same style like senayan and it also huge.

cheers

Looking at the figures, I am surprised to see how relatively small the number of people that those stadiums can hold, apart from Stadium Senayan...
Unless live spectatorship of en masse sports (soccer in particular) become more integrated to the lifestyle of the upper middle class, as opposed to being dominated by "bonek" audienceship like it is now, I don't believe Indonesian cities (other than Jakarta) will see any grander stadiums, hosting 60k or more, being built...

Stadium kanjuruhan in Malang can hold almost 60,000 people

There are two stadium currently can hold until 60k, Kanjuruhan and Jalak Harupat kab Bandung. The newest stadium underconstruction in Kutai might handle almost 60-70k spectators.

cheers

The sleman stadium development is being halted due to insuffcient fund
always like usual ...
but it is going to be continued after they have the fund from APBD 2006
... hopefully ...

According to Bupati Sleman and its football organisation PSS, the stadium is now resuming and expected to finish 80% by this June.

here is my source

http://www.ligaindonesia.com/index.p...man%20Dilelang

and PSSI is going to propose one more stadium for the asian cup 2007

the nominations are

Jakabiring Palembang - 50,000 capacity-revised
Si Jalak Harupat Kab Bandung - 40-50,000 capacity
(NEW) Madya stadium - Kutai/Samarinda for the PON 2008
Kanjuruhan Malang - 60,000 capacity

cheers

U should know that:

1. Jakabaring (right), Jakabiring (wrong)
2. The Stadium is not called "Jakabaring Stadium" but it called "Srivijaya Stadium"
3. Jakabaring is just a name of sport complex/center/area in Palembang
