Waterfall in the Canaima national park, Bolívar state.

image hosted on flickr

_EMA7664mode por Eduardo Cisneros1, en Flickr

Quote:
The savanna spreads into the regions of the Guiana Highlands and south-east into Bolívar State, extending further to the borders with Brazil and Guyana. The Gran Sabana has 10,820 km2 (4,180 sq mi) and is part of the second largest National Park in Venezuela, the Canaima National Park. Only Parima Tapirapecó National Park is larger than Canaima. The average temperature is around 20 °C, but at night can drop to 13 °C and in some of the more elevated sites, depending on weather, may fall a bit more.

The location offers one of the most unusual landscapes in the world, with rivers, waterfalls and gorges, deep and vast valleys, impenetrable jungles and savannas that host large numbers and varieties of plant species, a diverse fauna and the plateaus better known as tepuis.

Los Roques national park, Dependencias Federales

by Thomas Campos

Quote:
Los Roques archipelago is a federal dependency of Venezuela consisting of approximately 350 islands, cays, and islets in a total area of 40.61 square kilometers. The archipelago is located 128 kilometers (80 mi) directly north of the port of La Guaira.

The islands' pristine coral reef attracts many wealthy visitors, especially from Europe, some of whom come in their own yachts and anchor in the inner, protected shallow waters. Development and tourism are controlled.

Médanos de Coro National Park - Falcón state

image hosted on flickr

Médanos de Coro por Hélio Dias, en Flickr

Quote:
Parque Nacional Los Médanos de Coro is located in the state of Falcón, Venezuela, near the city of Coro on the road that leads to Paraguaná. The National Park was created in 1974.

The Médanos park lies on the Isthmus of Médanos and covers 91.280 hm² of desert and coastal habitat, including salt marshes. It is made up of three zones: an alluvial plain, formed by the delta of the Mitare River and some smaller streams; an aeolian plain, constituted of three type of dunes; and a littoral plain with a belt of mangrove swamps. The massive sand dunes, known as Médanos, spread over an area of approximately 5 by 30 kilometers. They can reach 40 meters in height and are constantly transformed by the unrelenting wind. Rainfall is rare, thus flora consists of little more than thorny shrubs. Fauna is likewise scarce; the park is home mainly to lizards, rabbits, anteaters, foxes, pigeons and kestrels. Visitors can wander amongst the dunes by camel (imported many years ago), and the park is easily reached by bus or taxi from Coro.

Galeras de Cinaruco, Santos Luzardo National Park - Apure state

image hosted on flickr

Galeras de Cinaruco por Bettina Garcia, en Flickr

Quote:
For those who love nature and adventure, there is a place in Apure State, waiting to be known and explored. Santos Luzardo Park, also known as Cinaruco - Capanaparo National Park is located in the plains of Apure, offering visitors beautiful displays of flora and fauna that can not be missed.

It can be reached by road, following the route of San Fernando de Apure to Puerto Paez, or by river tracing Capanaparo rivers, Cinaruco and Orinoco.

You should know that beyond being a purely touristic place, it's a good place to appreciate the rich flora and fauna typical of this area, so if you want to camp inside the park you must get permits.

Do not miss the famous route of Gallegos, named in honor of the great character in the novel Don Romulo Gallegos, besides the route was used by the writer to gather all the information needed to leave as a legacy to the world the unforgettable novel "Doña Barbara".

I'm adding a little info for monuments and historic places.

Cueva del Guácharo, El Guácharo National Park
Alexander von Humboldt Natural Monument - Monagas state

Cueva del Guácharo. Oilbird Cave por Francisco A. Betancourt, en Flickr

Quote:
The Guácharo Cave National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Cueva del Guácharo) is located 12 km from the town of Caripe, Monagas, Venezuela. It has as its centerpiece a large limestone cave.

The cave was visited in 1799 by Alexander von Humboldt, who realised that the thousands of oilbirds (guácharos in Spanish; scientific name Steatornis caripensis) which live in the cave belonged to a species unknown to science. Humboldt named the frugivorous, nocturnal species after the town of Caripe.

Virgin of Peace - Trujillo state

image hosted on flickr

Virgen de la Paz por Jorge Delgadillo, en Flickr

Quote:
Designed by sculptor Manuel de La Fuente was opened to public in December 1983. This imposing work is located at 1700 m. is 46.72 m high and weighs 1200 tons. Inside the huge statue you can climb up to four viewing points at different levels, from where you can have fine views of the city and its surroundings. From the fourth one, on a very clear day you might be able to see El Lago de Maracaibo (Maracaibo Lake).

If you are wearing the right shoes you may walk down the mountain to see the rock, where it is said the Virgin actually appeared and devoted worshipers pray, light candles and leave flowers to thank their patron Virgin for granted favors. The rock is the mouth of a cave, which according to Indian legends is connected to similar ones, forming an under ground tunnel which would allow them to move all around the state. Through the ages, telluric movements have blocked these passages.

Grieta del Guácharo, Canaima National Park - Bolívar state

Grieta del Guacharo por keko983, en Flickr

Quote:
Of all the Tepuyes (especially steep plateau with vertical walls and very flat tops) that exist in Venezuelan territory, the most visited is the Roraima, not only for being the tallest of them, but has a lot of points interest and great beauty.

One of these attractions is the "Grieta de los Guácharos", a point of extraordinary beauty and overwhelming immensity, in which a set of deep cracks are home to a colony of "Guácharos" (Steatornis caripensis, nocturnal bird, which sails for echolocation in low light) where you can enjoy the sunset through the vast window, while listening to the output of the birds in their nocturnal frenzy.
