Anyway, great pics of Melbourne! It looks denser and grittier than I expected. Is it like that over a large area or mainly in and around the city centre?

Mainly the inner suburbs and the city centre give off that gritty look and feel (though it's not a threatening feeling of grittiness).

Without bogging down the thread too much, here's some of the inner city suburbs

Damn ... Melbourne looks grittier than Toronto even! I'm liking those Sydney pictures though. Very dense while also clean looking.

I'm surprised by Melbourne and it's unthreatening gritiness. It seems to have more character than the sterile city I expected.

Very beautiful pictures from Sidney, Dimethyltryptamine. Thank you for sharing. I don't know what picture should I pick as my favourite, 'cause each one is wonderful and all of them have a stunning quality.

Melbourne isn't too gritty. It looks a whole lot grittier in those pictures, and they are a very small select part - known for being that way. Most of it is very neat and clean, especially in the CBD, along Collins is reminiscent of a European city. But grittiness does add character, so it's nice to have the best of both worlds.
