BASRA | Iraq Energy City | U/C

12-May-2011 –DUBAI, U.A.E and BASRA, IRAQ --(May 12, 2011) – Petronor FZE, an oilfield services company operating in Iraq, announced today that, following Southern Oil Company (SOC) approval, has signed a contract with Shell to provide offices and accommodations in its Iraq Energy City near Basra. A next-generation oilfield supply base, Iraq Energy City provides working and living space to a wide-array of oilfield service and independent contracting companies and is an ideal base for operations in Southern Iraq. Located near South Oil Company’s (SOC) Bergessia base and the Basra airport on land leased by Petronor FZE from the Ministry of Oil (MoO) through a contract with SOC, Iraq Energy City has a future capacity of 5,000 residents and is already home to several international companies.
“We see the demand and excitement growing for Iraq Energy City,” said Peter Day, Petronor CEO. “Majnoon is one of the largest fields in the World, and companies like Shell realize the importance to entry into Iraq and the proximity of independent contracting companies living and working in the same oilfield base. We feel that our growing list of tenants will create a dynamic environment that will enable successful entry and operations in Iraq.”
Southern Iraq is experiencing a renewed oil rush since the Iraqi government awarded contracts worth more than $200 billion to international oil companies (IOCs) to develop fields near Basra. Iraq Energy City is ideally located to support Shell’s own development of the super-giant Majnoon oilfield.
“We are very pleased to welcome Shell to Iraq Energy City,” said Mr. Hans Hoiskar, General Manager of Petronor Iraq. “Our objective is to lower the barriers of entry into Iraq by creating an ideal living and working environment where security and operating costs can be shared and overall risks mitigated. “
A wide-range of companies have already committed to Iraq Energy City, creating a competitive local market for oilfield and related services. Being developed in a logical sequence, Iraq Energy will grow from camp accommodations to permanent structures for offices, warehouses, workshops and yards. In later development phases, the addition of apartment buildings, hotels, recreational facilities, retail outlets, and schools will enhance the living experience for workers and their families.
“The ability to interact with many different oilfield service companies and the short-time frame to taking up residence is very appealing to Shell,” said Mr. Hoiskar. “Furthermore, Iraq Energy City is in a prime location for easy-access to the Majnoon field, Basrah City, as well as the other southern Iraqi fields.”

Petronor and RMSI Sign Contract Bringing Medical Services to Iraq Energy City in Basra

RMSI Establishes Regional Medical Centre (RMC) in Petronor's Iraq Energy City near Basra

DUBAI, U.A.E and BASRA, IRAQ - (May 16th, 2011) - Petronor FZE, an oilfield services company operating in Iraq, and RMSI, a company specializing in medical solutions in hostile environments and with a proven track record in Iraq, announced today the signature of a contract for RMSI to become the primary resident medical provider at Petronor's Iraq Energy City. RMSI, with its Regional Medical Centre (RMC), will provide the only western-level medical and emergency stabilization center in the South of Iraq. In addition, RMSI through their strategic alliance with International SOS will not only provide end-to-end medical services to clients throughout Iraq, but will also be able to advise new and existing clients on streamlining their medical emergency response plans. The intention is for the RMC to be operational at Iraq Energy City by end June 2011.

The selection of RMSI to create a best-in-class clinic and hospital for the region is perfectly aligned with Petronor's vision, and welcomed by current residents of Iraq Energy City. In addition, oil and gas companies operating in Southern Iraq will no longer lack an option for workers' higher level medical needs when the military pulls out.

"We are very pleased to finally welcome RMSI to Iraq Energy City," said Peter Day, CEO of Petronor. "As we aim to be the premier working and living environment for companies in the Basra region, we were well aware that the selection of a best-in-class medical provider was an important one. They have a strong track record in Iraq and a focus on services that will give our clients the comfort in knowing their medical needs will be professionally and expertly taken care of."

The RMC will operate on a members-only subscription basis and will initially span nearly 200 sq meters, comprising a full clinic, operating theater, and an ICU unit. RMSI plans to use IEC as its central medical hub, providing a wide range of medical services to support their network of remote clinics at client sites.

"We have taken a proactive step, investing in what will be the only western level medical and emergency stabilization centre in the South of Iraq, providing a much needed security blanket to thousands of expat and Iraqi workers, including ICU beds, an ambulance service, high level diagnostics and occupational health services," said Robert Lamb, President and CEO of RMSI. "After considering our options, it was clear that Iraq Energy City is the only viable option where the security and life support of our staff and patients can be assured".

Clients at IEC will be treated for everything from the simplest cuts and bruises, through to full emergency stabilization and possible evacuation. The evacuation service will depend on the clients existing arrangements and insurance, and RMSI along with International SOS will be able to advise new and existing clients on streamlining their medical emergency response plans from IEC.

"RMSI is a great addition to IEC and the Basra region," said Hans Hoiskar, General Manager of Petronor Iraq. "There is an Oil Rush underway and we are excited to welcome companies such as RMSI who can benefit from the IEC's ability to lower the barriers to entry, cost and security. Iraq Energy City is proving the ideal answer to those concerns."

About Iraq Energy City

The Iraq Energy City base is located on 300,000 sq meters of land leased by Petronor from the South Oil Company (SOC), and is near both Gate 2 of the SOC's Bergessia Base and the Basra airport. With an effective 40-year lease, Petronor has been developing the base in a logical sequence from temporary, secure units, warehouses and workshops to the eventual development of permanent structures such as villas, office buildings, hotels and recreational centers with an emphasis on enhancing the work and living conditions. With a future capacity for more than 5,000 residents, Iraq Energy City will expand the traditional role of an oilfield supply base by placing an emphasis on the "living experience".

Petronor launches the second phase of Southern Iraq’s first fully serviced community at Iraq Energy City

Friday, Oct 26, 2012

International services company Petronor, is successfully launching the second phase of its latest project, Iraq Energy City (IEC). A fully equipped international community in Basra, Southern Iraq, IEC offers the Oil & Gas Industry a secure and enjoyable place to live, work and play.

Located 20 minutes from Basra International Airport, Iraq Energy City offers complete accommodation services and leases commercial real estate to international companies looking to enter the Iraq market.

Leading the way with a greater appreciation of the need for a community based environment within Iraq’s Oil & Gas workforce, Iraq Energy City is a forerunner which offers not only accommodation, but a place to live. With one of the largest established communities, Iraq Energy City has set itself apart from other options with a core focus on cost effective operations, comfort, security and health and safety.

Parent company, Petronor Group, hold a long-term vision for Iraq Energy City and its place within Iraq’s economy. Through a strategy focused on sustainable local involvement and training initiatives for building skills and qualifications for the local community, Petronor has demonstrated itsl ng-term commitment to the development of Southern Iraq.

Primarily catering to the Oil & Gas corporations and associated engineering and services industries, Iraq Energy City opened the first of its room and commercial leases in August 2011. It is now a fully functioning, completely secure international community with over 300 live-in residents and a daily workforce of more than 400 professionals.

Supported by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Petronor was granted a lease for more than 170,000 square metres through a contract with South Oil Company to develop Iraq Energy City. Featuring a variety of buildings, Iraq Energy City currently has the capacity to house more than 400 people with a target of 1500 rooms in total by the end of 2013. Support for commercial tenants range from offices, warehouses and workshops to business support, making entry into the Iraq market affordable for both large and small companies.

Its key focus on lifestyle has set Iraq Energy City apart from other more

traditional camp providers. Iraq Energy City has on-site medical facilities with both out-patient and in-patient capabilities including several intensive care units. Petronor Group CEO, Peter Day explains the reasoning:

“With an extensive background in the oil industry, our vision for Iraq Energy City was a community that would fully service the needs of residents from daily essentials including comfortable living, dining, cleaning and laundry to sports, recreation and medical care.”

The city features a full range of amenities and recreational facilities including a cinema, restaurant and café, swimming pools and a commercial sports centre, in addition to a community running track and outdoor sports courts. The city runs community events such as social sports clubs and Friday BBQs, and even boasts a training centre with English and HSE courses.

I went to their booth today. I found two enthusiastic brits who told me that they are still expanding and more units are being brought in. I have seen its gate while driving around Zubair field on my way to Rumaila.
