The capital of the UK has not even relevance for the finance sector in France, Germany, Italy or Russia the largest economies in Europe. In EUROPE.

The UK capital is one among 20 centers on the globe where financial industries are concentrated. Of course the UK capital is foremost important to the UK, a midsize island.

BTW, finance is one among 100 economic sectors.

you can compare Warsaw with rotterdam, the ammount of highrisebuildings is sort of equal!
only Rotterdam needs a 200m building for sure...maby the zalmhavetower will be a breaking point!

look it up . london is one of the top two! new york and london. i read somewhere that in financial terms canary wharf on its own is bigger than frankfurt!

Ok, two ratings puting London first and one rating (prepared in US) puting New York first. Agree? Or your point was somewhat different?
In my opinion currently we have duopoly between New York and London with New York having bigger stock exchange and London bigger in currency exchange and bond trades.

Well, just don't let it get to you. Opinions of a city shouldn't be based on just one user from the country. For example, I've come across plenty of French trolls/unpleasant users, but I still think Paris is an amazing city. Judge London as a city, not because of forum users...and SO143 doesn't even live in London anyway.

And remember, as I said in an earlier post, there's always the option to add users to your Ignore List! (I don't know what the French translation is, but it's an option on your user profile).

I actually agree with you. By some measures London is 1, by others NY is 1. My only intention was to show that the of those 3 rankings, one is a year old, the American based one has NY as 1, and the English based one has London as 1. So clearly there isn't an overarching consensus.

Also, after actually reading the International Financial Centres Development Index, one of the rankings previous posters have referred to to put London ahead of NY, it actually ranks NY ahead of London, even though the Wikipedia page claims the report puts London ahead of NY. Here's the actual report in pdf form, rankings on page 5 and 6.

In Europe (read the European Union) only Frankfurt matters as a financial hub. Why?
Because the European Central Bank in Frankfurt has the power to create hundreds of billion euros in order to inflate the Eurozone economy and in consequence is able to stabilise the largest market economy on the globe.

That is financial power !

And it is backed by Berlin, Paris, Rome, Brussels politically.
