Don't wanna sound rude but i suppose you're comparing 70's style brown colour "commie block" (257m) tower to a quality, iconic, extraordinary, 310m supertall lolz

calling Messetower a commieblock is beyond ridiculousness.

Relax..
No one denies that the Shard is a great tower, but Messeturm is also among the best in Europe IMO.
Although I think the quality of both towers is very good, the style is completely different and this aspect can still hardly be rated objectively.

I totally understand the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinions that's why i also suppose that some of you guys response, biased attitude, and ignorant comparison are more than outrageous and ridiculous IMHO. I am off now! Safe.

In case some of you didn't notice already: SO143 did start this thread to hype London. It's blindingly obvious! And everyone who isn't his opinion and dares to talk back is of course a troll or flamer...whereas SO143 is always the first to lose his manners.

Just for the record: The style of Messeturm is called Postmodern. The cladding consists of finest polished red granite. You are the first ever to see a resemblance with commieblocks. Your trolling attempts get worse and worse.

So, do you think that calling London's most iconic/modern skyscraper "an overdone cheap bitch at a roadside" is not ridiculous? WTF

This is what i call ridiculous, and you are now taking the piss really. Let me tell you something chap by using and bashing my user name over and over again will not make you a wiser man, in fact you should stay out of this discussion if you are here to exaggerate things to make yourself look cool. Besides, i'd rather focus on topic and discussion than trying to insult other people's opinion. Profanity towards other members should not be tolerated. I do express and demonstrate my opinions in ways i desire, furthermore i did not set this up on purpose to hype London as the matter of fact i am neither from London nor Europe so obviously there's no point to have a biased BS. Furthermore, just to let you know that i voted for Moscow in threads like Europe's Top Skyline thread and i also voted 9.5 for Frankfurt in Vote Our Skyline thread whereas i only voted 7.5 or something for London. Therefore, i strongly reckon that you should abandon some of your utterly ignorant statement.

I wish you could get rip off your stupid attitude towards other people as well. Why don't you say something when your mate talked BS about London's iconic building? Please, just confess the fact that you are all obsessed with these enormous and massive projects in London and Moscow lolz etc i bet that funny fella wouldn't call The Gherkin a cheap bitch if it was constructed in Berlin or Frankfurt, Well don't worry too much you already know that Europe's most powerful and biggest cities like London, Paris, Moscow, Istanbul will take over Frankfurt sooner or later (if you think they are not as good as urs atm) p.s i don't mind Pueffer's retarded comment as well because he's well known for being a troll in many forums. Good night, sleep tight and bye for now.

i dont like the gerkin either. its got a real good facade and nice details, but the cubature is real, real oddish and not very appealing.

I don't love the Gherkin, but I don't mind it. I dont like how it looks in some angles of skyline shots.

Guess the quality cant be too bad though, it did win the Emporis Skyscraper Gold Award

i think the lists of 100m+ towers dont give us much info about a skyline, we should rather compare the ten tallest buildings or all above 200m, because they are more important for the look of it then thousands of 100m to 150m

I'm admittedly very pro-London, but given some of the U/C skyscrapers we have being built I honestly think we'll have perhaps the most original and interesting cluster (City of London) in Europe come 2014. Though at the moment I do prefer the Russian, Parisian and in some respects the Frankfurt skylines.

Fortunatly the elegant Bioshopsgate Tower will steal her the show.
Of course, a person from Germany rooting for a German city and going against the others, how typical.
