Moscow is the best cluster in Europe- but not the best skyline, although I am a massive fan of Stalinist skyscrapers and the 'seven sisters'.

Agree on that part, La Defense does need some higher towers to get rid of the wall effect, like Moscow, but I just get the feeling that Moscow is trying to build to much, too quickly (not that that's a problem) so when the business district becomes a bit denser, then it will start to rocket in terms of my personal best skyline. But I must say Moscow, along with London, has the best quality skyscrapers in Europe for sure

I am Italian (so neutral) I lived both in London (7 yrs) and in Berlin (3 years) now in Barcelona. I love London, but Frankfurt skyline is much better - it is normal Frankfurt is a smaller city with a much denser skyline - London is a huge city with smaller clusters here and there. *Still I like London as a city more than Frankfurt / but I like Berlin as a city more than London. This is about skylines, I am not sure about Moscow because I was not there. But I was in all other major European cities including Rotterdam, Milan, Warsaw, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Istanbul, Barcelona, Madrid, Lyon, Budapest, Prague, Stockholm, Brussels, Rome, Zurich, Sofia, Belgrade, Bratislava, Hamburg, etc etc etc, come on guys, Frankfurt among all of these is the only city with a real dense skyline in the city centre. All other EU cities except Rotterdam, Warsaw, Milan which were totally destroyed would not be good locations for skyscrapers in the city centre. London did it in the city, and it is ok, however it does ruin a little the Saint Paul's cathedral view and the Tower of London atmosphere IMHO. Then you should not argue, it is just a thread and everyone is free to like what they bloody like.

I always thought Berlin was an ugly, soulless city but I'm up for someone telling me what's great about it- I know very little about it, exept that it was destroyed.

We both know that is not what you said-

"even Warsaw has a better skyline than London"

Implying not that you like Warsaw's skyline, but that londons skyline is so bad that even poor skylines like that of Warsaw are better.

I dont care how different peoples opinions are- it is a fact that London has a better skyline than Warsaw. The fact that you found the need to randomly bash London tells me that it is in fact YOU with the inferiority complex.

maybe you should visit Berlin. it is a fantastic city in so many aspects:
party, architecture, museums, very relaxing, still quite cheap, openminded,
so many different districts....and yes it is a better place for living than London.

would you please stop with this shit. I like the growing skyline of Warsaw
more than Londons skyline. this is my opinion and I am not the only one.
what you call a fact is your opinion. is this really so hard to understand. the fact that you are from London makes you biased.
I am not biased cause I am neither from Warsaw nor from London.

@Pfeuffer have you lived in both berlin and london?

Ive only ever seen berlin in depth twice, and that was on tv

The 2006 world cup and the 2009 athletic world championships, and in both Berlin looked very nice, the sunny weather did help, and you didnt really see much at the world cup appart from that gate thing behind gary lineker and the stadium, but in 2009 when they were running through the city for the marathon it looked very nice. Modern, yet maintaining its old architecture

Maybe you are biased by a quite obvious anti-London sentiment.

yep, I live in Berlin and I have been many times in London. the atmosphere
in Berlin is more relaxing cause it is not a business city but a party city.
it is really cheap if you compare it to Paris, London or Munich. Berlin
got major economical problems as a high unemployment rate, low income etc.
but the diversity of clubs, restaurants, pubs is incomparable. the best
districts are in the eastern part nowadays like Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain.

I always thought Berlin was rebuilt as a bit of a postmodern nightmare? Very unsympathetic towards architectural aesthetics...

no, I am not anti-London. I really like the music scene there but I am
not a fan of the skyline yet. but that might change in a few years.

Berlin is not harmonious. that is true. it is a unique mix of old and new,
of western and communist architecture. especially the new city centre
is incredible. it is not beautiful as a whole like Paris. for me it is the
most interesting city.

I think every city should be respected and considered well, whether anyone argues between two or not. Just look at you talking about living prices in London or Berlin or how it is a party city or business city.

This is how the Moscow skyline would of looked if nothing was cancelled and everything would of been finished
