Wah Mie Group to build luxury condo in Likas

KOTA KINABALU: The Wah Mie Group will embark on a luxury condominium project at Likas here that will provide residents a resort style living within the city.

Its group managing director, Datuk Kong Kwok Wah disclosed yesterday that the project named ‘Element at Likas’ was expected to be launched sometime in June.

“This is arguably one of our five-star condominiums in town as each unit will be 60 per cent furnished with kitchen cabinet, toilet closet, air condition, timber flooring and plaster ceiling,” he told reporters at the Group’s Chap Goh Mei party, which marked the end of the Chinese New Year celebration at their Alam Damai multi purpose hall here yesterday.

The soon to be launched condominium is 33-storey high and includes four stories of parking bays of which each unit owner will be given two lots, he said.

The property will be built on a 12-acre land and is sited on a strategic location as it is surrounded by schools, medical centre, sports complex, shopping mall and is only about 5 minute’s drive to the city centre, he said.

The size of the condominium units ranges from 1,260 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft and it has a rooftop garden overlooking the paranomic view of Likas Bay, he said.


“We emphasie a resort style living within the city and this idea was mooted after the success of our Alam Damai project, so investors and buyers watch out for our launching,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, the newly completed Alam Damai condominium which comprises 552 units in three blocks is expected to obtain its occupation certificate by April or May, this year, he said adding that two of the blocks are 18-storey high while the other one is 16 stories.

The size of the units ranges from 1,000 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft and all units had been sold out, said Kong adding that the location of the property is also unique as it has three access points from Tuaran, Dah Yeh Villa and Damai.

“Construction of Alam Damai project started in 2007 and we are proud that it was completed on schedule,” he said.

“These three blocks of building had become a landmark in Damai area as you drive along Tuaran and Dah Yeh Villa it is very visible,” he said.

He said the value of the property had gone up drastically from RM250 per sq ft to RM400 per sq ft from the time of project launching to its completion, which was unprecedented in Sabah’s property market.
