Has anybody been taking screen shots of the lift from the webcam? I have pretty much missed all the lifts and caught everything between! Still...it looks ok!
But if anyone has any screen grabs, they would be helpful

They are still grafting away as I type, the bridge now reaches across the length of the road and is complete, just tightening and attaching a few things.

Don't know the area at all, sure looks good though. Can someone tell me what this bridge is for and what it goes over?
thanks

its a nice bridge BUT, why did they build it ?? look at photo and you will see the blue line ,that will be the route to walk , now look at the pink line .it would of been easier to put a walkway around the inside ,the tarmac on the inside of the middle right bridge is not a road but , just a large bit doing nothing .its fenced off at the momant but when its gone you will be able to stand there and watch the traffic below ,and if you dont want to use the bridge then walk all the way around on the grass!

Very good point Oldbury and I do agree, it does look a lot more iconic with the A frame in place though.
The footpath could have gone round the whole circumference of the inside of the island. Posh high specification paving could have been used and it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than the bridge. You have really sold that idea to me! Last edited by Benjyt; June 1st, 2012 at 06:17 PM. |

Yes it could have worked, but instead we got a bridge that West Bromwich will probably be known for now!
If you ask me, I'd prefer to have the bridge than the longer walk all the way around. |

Funky bridges are the future! On a different subject, because of the options of Great Charles St in the news will the bridge make-over not happen now?

I'd rather see the bridge make over at great Charles dropped and see the money put towards one of the more expensive options, I wonder if the most expnsive option would involve tunnelling from queesway to holloway circus? That would do wonders to help the mailbox |
