Because the border isn't meant to remain closed forever.

At San Sebastián, in AP-8, they have changed some signals and now they do not point "France" but Bayonne.

All city/town names in these signals are in Basque.

Irun = Irun (last city in Spain, located in the same border and second biggest in the province. The airport is located just in the same border)
Hondarribia = Fuenterrabia, located besides Irun
Baiona = Bayonne in French, Bayona in Spanish. They do not indicate just "France" no more.
Pasaia = Pasajes
Errenteria = Rentería

Next signals only indicate towns for exits and last one close to border still indicates "Frantzia" in Basque

I believe with my whole heart, that as a protest to whoever placed these signs, that drivers should stop, get out of their cars and read these signs one by one!

Is "Berne" the Italian spelling for Bern? Or did someone decide to post in Italy the French name of a German-speaking city, for some reason?

I dont know but its interesting that in Aosta also is a Sign for Martigny,Lausanne and Bern and there stands Bern and here where the Border is just a few Kilometers away they write Berne

Germany,Italy and Slovenia signed on the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse

No, that's "Berna".

Precisely that. It's an Italian-French-speaking part of Italy, but it's still weird because on the same signs there's in Italian "Traforo del G. S. Bernardo" and "Passo del G. S. Bernardo" respectively (as well as "borgo di St. Rhemy").

Luxembourguish signs looks like a hybrid combination between German & French roadsigns:
- French (capital letters ou of motorways, italic characters for names in Luxembourguish when entering a built-up area, white roadsigns for some destination within the city) &
- German (small letters on motorways & the use of yellow for most roadsigns outside them)

I like very much the TRIER (TRČVES) and KÖLN (COLOGNE) signage (use of both endonyms & exonyms at once), which is more satisfactory for tourists from both countries). A (D) oval additionally would've been even better.

Vienna is not the only Austrian city signposted in Hungary. This sign is around Sopron, some 10 km of the border.

Kismarton/Eisenstadt is regional capital of Burgenland (Őrvidék), a comparably small and the easternmost federal state of today's Austria. The territory was taken from Hungary following the Trianon treaty in 1920.

There used to be signs for Paris and Bordeaux on that stretch. Have they removed them as well?

Thanks for the picture from Sopron-bypass. Eisenstadt is the "Austrian substitute" regional capital for Burgenland/Őrvidék as people in Sopron decided not to leave Hungary in 20s in 20th century („A leghűségesebb város” - the faithful city in Hungary).

Anyway there is another minority and language spoken in Burgenland (and partially in Nordwest-Hungary) - Croatians. Sometimes the Croatian names of villages could be noted there as well (Kóphaza/Koljnof near Sopron for example).

What is also interesting. That there is still 20t-weight-restriction for the border crossing Sopron/Klingenbach.

Nice to see the same destinations written in both direction . And motorway-like signage on the 2 lane Saint Bernard tunnel.

And this is in Mexicali
