actually I think he said that for France. If you don't like the country and its laws..., you better leave. but I don't know what brisavoine wanted to say with replacing FR with SLO.

In the US I have seen signs for cities in both Canada and Mexico.

This sign is located on I-35 just about midway between San Antonio and Laredo, TX which is on the US/Mexico border.

Western Hungary of course has a lot of signs with Austrian cities shown - with or without "A" oval, but always together with the Hungarian name of these cities.

1. Bécs - Wien without distance (relatively far from the border)

2. Bécs - Wien with distance:

3. Multiple towns (ca. 5-10km before border):

Wikipedia says
Quote:
ungarisch: Sopronkeresztúr, bis 1899 Németkeresztúr;
Important to mention that these small border towns are in the easternmost Austrian Bundesland of Burgenland that was Hungarian territory until 1920 (Trianon Treaty following WW1). So it is natural that every village there has also a Hungarian name ...

Am I the single person who doesn't like Slovak signage?

I like much more German and Slovenian one for example.

Do they use LATIN characters in BG? I always thought they wrote there in Cyrillic alphabet.

We have this sign south of Amsterdam near Schiphol on the A4/E19. It says:
Brussel 205
Paris 497

Not true: In Kingston-upon-Hull are signs with Rotterdam and Zeebrugge on it. And as far as I remember, in Harwich there as signs with "Hoek van Holland".

See Hull: http://maps.google.nl/maps?f=q&sourc...7.75,,1,-22.07

Σόφια/Sofija and Σκόπια/Skopje signed in Greece.

Please do not comment on the empty oval next to Skopje. You all know...

It's the best solution for the time being! If we ever start using ovals, I suppose we're gonna do the same thing or write FYROM in the oval ..
