this is so weird and quite disuseful sign.
first - München. ok, not bad to sign it. but in that case they could also sign Stuttgart or Nürnberg okBit is some kind of vertical route that runs to Basel, but it is way to early to sign it.
Hanau is ok (although I find it a bit unneccessary beside Frankfurt, but ok).
Basel is really wtf. ok there is some kind of vertical route that ends in Basel and includes A45, but it is nonsense to sign it there imo. (even that Verona thing by Rosenheim makes more sense )
Frankfurt - signing only Frankfurt for that direction instead of previous three would be enough.
other signed places are also ok.

That Dutch one has been replaced a long time ago. Luik is now signposted in French as Liege.

I didn't find one (not that I'd really search for one there...) and searching again on Google Maps I still don't find one.

The closest I find is this one, and even here you'll have to drive one metre (!) plus the length of your vehicle in a forbidden direction.

A political statement? In the past, Vorarlberg has voted for joining Switzerland (which was rejected by the Austrian government, though)

I think the D oval is not saying Salzburg is German, but it is on the German border.

It is sort of unclear, but Austria uses international ovals in a free way.

It's heading towards Germany. And I don't think it's a political statement.

All places in Südtirol are obviously signposted in German only from Austria as they consider Südtirol as much Tirol as the one in Austria. Traffic reports in Südtirol are included on Austrian radio, which frequency extends to Trento. And in the Tiroler Tageszeitung news from Südtirol is also included in the local section.
However, oddly enough, the local Austrian S-bahn from Innsbruck to Brenner is displayed as Brennero/Brenner.

Late reply, I don't read this thread often.
I know what you said, but 49% of Merano\Meran citizens are ethnically Italians.
Plus, someone from abroad may don't understand what Meran and Timmelsjoch are, an "I" oval would help.
