It is funny that this topic is raised often. Most civilized people know that most of the major European cities carry several names in different languages. For them it is no problem to understand that Bruxelles, Brüssel and Brussels all are names of a city located in Belgium/Belgien/Belgique/Belgia/Belgio. For the remaining 0.1 per cent, who cares.

Funny country, Luxembourg. Apart from French and German they speak that jiberish called Letzburgs, however, nearly all signs are in French and some in German...

I've been there, and seen signs in Lëtzebuergesch. Probably more Lëtzebuergesch than German. Michelin road maps show French and Lëtzebuergesch versions of place names. (30 years ago they used French only.)

I think all 4-way cross-roads in the US should be replaced by roundabouts. Also I will need to see mileage signs be replaced by km signs asap. Furthermore there should be federal legislation concerning highway codes in all states, and overtaking will be done on the left only. Lane hogging will then be dealt with by issuing severe penalties. At the next presidential elections I will make my voice heard.

You could vote in 2024 if you start working on establishing residency now.

Turn right for Warsaw and Frankfurt am Main, also known as Oder in Polish.

In all fairness, you were never able to catch me with dictating people in other countries what they should do, because it's not in my interest and local voters are perfectly capable of making the best out of their own country. I am not ChrisZwolle (never seen any evidence yet that he has actually been in the US) or Suburbanist who has big plans for Amsterdam by the way, upsetting some folks there today, or Valentino from who I have strong suspicions that he is still under age.

Edit: post for Michael

There's dictating, there's expressing opinions, there's parroting ignorant stereotypes, there's outright xenophobia and there's going over subjects that have been done to death. There's also telling other people you know their language better than they do. I have problems of varying degrees with all but one of those. Guess which one.

And I reserve my right to say, respectfully, some changes in European signage wouldn't hurt (it's sure as hell true of our own too) without being hounded off the forum for it. And I try to be tolerant of newbies, under-age or otherwise, who don't know what subjects have been done to death.

I can already see those bad English translations things: Warschau (Warsaw) - Frankfurt (Or)

they really got to emphasize the "Oder", I mean... if you fly to Germany and land Berlin, then you want to go Frankfurt, oh man, someone could be surprised that famous Frankfurt is that tiny little town there with three shacks and a Lidl "oh doch, you need to drive to the other side of the country!"

I have the feeling that you mentioned the 0.1 per cent. How many cities in Europe (or World) do have four official names? I think Belgium is fairly different case.
