Movie and TV city errors

Many movies will try to pass off one city for another, which works for the general populace but tends to be exposed by skyscraper mavericks such as ourselves. I have noticed quite a few mistakes myself (listed below) but in general, this thread is dedicated to documenting all movie and tv city errors. Anybody is welcome to contribute any mistakes they know of!

In the movie "The Other Guys", it takes place in NYC but after the scene with the heavy drinking, they cut to a night skyline shot of Boston!

In the movie "Devil", people are supposed to be trapped in an elevator in Philadelphia, but the building (at least according to previews) is Bay Adelaide West in Toronto.

In the movie "Kickass", it is supposed to take place in NYC but continuously cuts to shots of Toronto. Many scenes DID show NYC, but just as many did not, including the ending fight sequence.

In the tv show "Rules of Engagement", they are supposed to be living in NYC but the main characters work in One King West in Toronto.

In the movie "Fever Pitch", there are 2 major errors. The first is that it was ever filmed at all. The second is in the opening montage of Boston, there is a Toronto street shot inexplicably thrown in there! I recognized Scotia Place.

In a recent coffee commercial (Folger's?) that said "good morning America" it showed a shot of the Trump Tower under construction in... you guessed it... Toronto!

In the 2002 movie "Riders", it is supposed to take place in some random American city, but it is really filmed in Montreal.

In the movie "Knowing", it is supposed to take place in Boston but is actually filmed in Melbourne. There is a scene where they are overlooking the city, and it is actually a combination of the 2! Very cool, but very wrong... here is a screenshot from my tv.

Please contribute any more that you know of! If I remember or witness more, I will put 'em too.

Yeah I always enjoy spotting those geographical errors, especially in location shots.

Two crappy blockbuster movies come to mind: GI Joe where it was obviously not Paris, and after all that chase, they end up a block away from where they started.

The other one is Transformers 2, where that whole movie is one huge mistake.

The Bourne Supremacy
In one Scene Jason is supposed to be at the Ku'damm. He tries to escape from the police by jumping from a bridge onto a ship. That bridge is actually at Friedrichstraße wich is nowhere near Kurfürstendamm.

The last quarter or so of the movie is playing in Moscow, but many scenes were actually filmed also in Berlin.

A-Team Movie
There is one scene where they want to show the Frankfurt main station. But you see a shot of Cologne, including the famous cathedral.
The Frankfurter taxis in that movie are actually Berliner ones.
And some scenes between Frankfurt skyscrapers were filmed in Vancouver.

the new MI4 is filmed in vancouver for a lot of it - they used the convention centre again - this time as banglore in india

Short Circuit 2 was supposed to be set in NYC. But was filmed in Toronto. In fact the end scene where the robot Johnny 5 was taking his oath to become a US citizen was in Canadian soil.

No Retreat No Surrender was set in Seattle but most of the scenes were filmed in LA's San Fernando Valley.

Alot of "Euro-themed" American films such as Hostel and Eurotrip. Both movies had Amsterdam on its settings but was filmed in Prague.

On the sci-fi side.

Blade Runner was supposed to be set in a futuristic Los Angeles but several of the scenes was shot in Tokyo.

Well, Canada used to be a much cheaper alternative for Hollywood to shoot movies when the Canadian Dollar was cheap. Don't think that's popular anymore these days.

In the Movie "Around the world in eighty days" (with Chackie Chan) scenes that were supposed to show London, Paris and Versailles were shot on Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin and on the grounds of Charlottenburg Castle in Berlin.

The upcoming movie "The three Musketeers" weren't shot in France or Paris, but in the cities Bamberg and Munich in Germany.

The movie Gulag from 1985 was supposed to be set in old Soviet (hence the name), but was actually filmed here in Oslo. Not sure this is a compliment to the city though.

As I know, lots of the movie scanes from Moscow metro are actually filmed in systems of Kiev or St. Petersburg. The price for professional filming is cheaper in these cities

Brighton Rock as the name suggests takes place in the city of Brighton. However most of the movie was shot 20 miles down thew coast in a town called Eastbourne. It even has Eastbourne pier (instead of Brighton Pier) on the movie poster:

I dont know why they would use Eastbourne pier, because Brighton pier much bigger and way more spectacular:

Goodwill Hunting ... supposed to be set in MIT but is actually shot at University of Toronto.

The Boondock Saints ... supposed to be set in Boston but pretty much all the street scenes are clearly shot in Toronto.

Hellcats ... some new teen show supposed to be set in Mississippi or something but is so obviously shot in Vancouver lol. Don't understand why they couldn't set the story in Seattle or something.

In general though, it is usually a surprise if some American show/movie is set in NYC but isn't shot in Toronto.

one that comes to mind is the final scene in Gangs of New York - somehow the Empire State appears only a few blocks from the old WTC

only a few seconds in
