Will use this thread to showcase my sketchup models and renders of them. Have a good interest in architectural design as a hobby, especially with neo-classicist forms of all architectural trends - greek, roman, persian, byzantine, and others.

Intermediate user of sketchup as a hobby, and a beginner with rendering. Currently using V-ray as a rendering program.

A neo-classical inspired mosque design. Interior inspired by more traditional architectural forms from Islamic countries.

Small neighborhood mosque with capacity for about 300-350 worshipers. Upper gallery level exclusively for women. Ablution halls in basement, also living quarters for emam, his office, and also a small day-care room.

Unfortunately the calligraphy on the architrave did not turn out right on the renders.

And the background can be substituted for a suburb or a low density city area as well, however I don't have appropriate background files at the moment.

Will attempt to render the interior next, and hopefully will post the results next weekend (enshallah). Do give me your feedback and comments to make the design or the renders better. Cheers!

Great design ! especially the art in the interiors and the details are very nice..

but only one thing, the chair ! during jumaa the imam wont give his lecture on an office chair Iguess :p

i see, you're already very experienced, so i can't give you much advice on modelling.
but i could help you with rendering if you'd use Kerkythea...
well, VRay is better of course, but requires also a lot more knowledge. so for the beginning i'd recommend to try Kerkythea

btw, the interiors are brilliant, especially the columns! could you send me a file with one column, please?

@ Dubai Skyscraper: Yes V-ray is a little bit difficult to use, however I am not getting the problems I was getting with Kerkythea - the calligraphy at least shows up if not properly, and there are no probs with follow-me components (I tried the export and import and merge even by using different scenes but didn't work).

As abouts the column... thats not my own work, and I cannot find its credits or even on the warehouse, so I have uploaded it here so you can have a copy: http://www.filesonic.com/file/106187...nthian_New.skp

So after a lot of experimentation, I finally got around to getting some acceptable quality interior renders. Unfortunately, because of my computer performance, I am only able to get one render every 1.5 to 2 hours so I will limit it to 2-3 renders whenever I can per day. Please do give your feedback.

So lets go inside...

The main entrance... There are place-holders for calligraphic inscriptions on the upper part of all doorways. I haven't gotten around to completing that.

@ germantower - I know what you mean... the obviously fake trees and the obviously fake people make for a cartoonish outlook. Would probably require quite a lot of time to fix. But anyhow, it gets the point across for now.
