That's a decent stretch. Having the Diridon area filled out would connect it to downtown, too. Awesome.

Pretty much no advertising, it just came out of nowhere. Based on the comments at the bottom of the link, it seems like the attendance could have been much higher if they got the word out. This could become a substantial event drawing 5 figure crowds in the future.

Typical San Jose though... nothing is ever advertised, that's the problem. We have great things going on but no one knows about it because it's mostly word of mouth.

That is EXCEPTIONAL news!!! I have just done double decker bus tours in Paris, Dublin, and London... it's a great way to quickly see the main tourist attractions in any city. Every day I thought to myself that San Jose should definitely have this. While SJSV Tours ins't exactly a hop-on/hop-off service, it is a HUGE step in the right direction!

It would be nice to have a place in downtown San Jose where you could sign up and go on tours. When I was in Munich, we just stopped at a tour place and then took a guided tours to Neuschwanstein and Oberammergau.

I do think there will be a lot of people that would like to see the Apple, Google, Facebook, Cisco headquarters. Some of those companies should have stores or gift shops.

There also should be tours to places not too far away like Santa Cruz, Big Basin, Pinnacles, Monterey, etc. We have co-workers coming from other countries who try to avoid renting a car and tours like that would be very attractive. It is much more hassle trying to get them to take multiple busses, trains, etc. to get to those places.

Just got the pricing... $79 for the San Jose tour, 3 1/2hrs and $99 for the Silicon Valley tour, 6hrs.

Got an update on San Pedro Market Pl. It ain't opening on September 10. Instead, it's been pushed back to sometime in Oct. with only less than 20 tenants signed up for it. It's a failure from the moment they announced and started constructing this project. With no new housing around, this project is deemed a failure.

I don't know about that. San Jose (Silicon Valley) is a car oriented region. People will drive to this from surrounding neighborhoods and cities if it's delivered properly. The housing will come in time. There are already plans to surround the market and nearby blocks with thousands of apartments and condos.

No housing is being built or will be built downtown for along time. In fact, the project is not going to be delivered properly since it's so small and insignificant. Less than 20 merchants would occupy this market. My guess is that it will not last more than 1 year and the half, and it would be converted to more of an office/commercial use.

Oh no, the cancer is back. I have to agree that ignoring it might be the best solution unless Animo can provide some radiation therapy.

On a happier note, congrats on getting your twitter up and running!

It's "a long" time, not "along" time. Take a class son!

San Jose Business Journal has an article about the high rise condos not selling titled "Hiring frenzy, IPOs fuel sales of downtown San Jose condos." Note that I could read the full premium articles today without being a subscriber.

Axis has 181 units sold as of mid-August versus 108 in March 2010.
The 88 has 138 units sold or under contract versus 68 in March 2010.
City Heights has 107 units sold in mid-August versus 95 in Feb. 2010.

They did say that the 360 going to apartments bumped the selling of the condos.

Pretty solid numbers, all condos should be sold by the end of 2012 at that rate. City heights might be fully sold this year (only 124 units).

Sep 9th: Sign Lighting Party at the San Pedro Square Market and at that point a few vendors should already be open for business (like the San Pedro Market Bar and the Wine Bar). Time for a San Jose Forum meetup? http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=210343719019568
