Durf, let me ask you an honest question. Are you some sort of sociopath? Why are you obsessed with trying to put other cities down. Does that make you feel better about yourself or the city in which YOU live (which you still haven't mentioned)?

Do you not get the hint that nobody wants you posting in the SJ forums?

There's will be no development downtown without the agency investments with possible exceptions of a new court house(9 nine story) and the expansion of the convention center. That's it! I'm talking about the next 15 to 20 year time frame of dearth of construction and investments downtown. Downtown is currently is in the beginning of abandonment phase as the result of the whole valley community focusing on other cities and the city's outer area for investments and other activities. The Silicon Valley consumers mainly head to Los Gatos, Santana Row, Willow Glen, Campbell, Mountain View and Palo Alto for shopping, intertainment and restaurants and not much so to Downtown San Jose. This will increase over time, like 5 years from now, and Downtown San Jose will be a virtual ghost town with boarded up storefronts spreading throughout downtown. It's over for downtown since the agency is no longer there. I wish I was wrong, but that's highly unlikely so.

Santos, don't you get it that the lack of development is what hurts downtown? Lack of density is what hurts businesses in the area since there's no critical mass. This not about putting city down. I don't enjoy this at all. Common sense is that if you don't have critical mass and lack of development with stiffle downtown's progress and its future. Stop attacking me and my character for this less than rosy future. I didn't create this downtown demise. The whole valley community did. So, don't blame me and use me as a scapegoat. I have right to freedom of speech, and I'm just the messinger.

I need to correct on 102. Lack of development will, not with as I wrote, stiffle downtown.

Why do you hate SJ here but pretend to love it at C-D?

Kru, I don't hate San Jose, and you guys are in denial! Let's be civil here. I'm not out to get and put San Jose down. I'm letting you guys be aware of what's going on with downtown, which doesn't have a future as a thriving downtown unless these developers/lenders start building towers there. Lack of development is downtown's worst enemy. You should convince Sabrato and Swenson and their lenders to start building apartment towers since San Jose has the hottest apartment market in the country. You need density for downtown to work. Right now, there's no critical mass to sustain downtown commerce. There's demand for apt., extended stay hotels and corporate offices. The affordable apt. on Fourth and casino project on N. First should have been downtown. Forget North First St. and focus downtown. Remember, I'm not putting the city down. I'm trying to create awareness of downtown's plight to the real estate and corporate community. Lack of development downtown hurts downtown!

Durf, everyone here has optimism about Downtown except for you. Go rant somewhere else. If you don't like Downtown, don't go there!

Either learn how to post objectively, or find another forum to troll. You are the main reason why the old San Jose forum was killed, so don't make the admins lock this one as well.

YOUR COMMENTS HAVE BEEN HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR, now go away.

Ok, I'll go away, but you've been warned. Downtown will falter over time because of low density and investments favoring the suburbs. Just remember that I call for the downfall of Downtown San Jose due to lack of investments and the valley focus of the none downtown area of San Jose. No major private development will occur for a long, long time! Downtown will be the feeblest and deserted within the next few years. I wish and hope I'm wrong! This my last posting since I'm not popular here. If this turn out true, remember I hate to say "I told you so."

The last one was flawless... easily the best taco truck event in the Bay Area, no doubt it will bring a ton of people downtown each week.

It should be pretty massive. The station will consolidate Caltrain, Lightrail, ACE, Capital Corridor, BART, High-Speed Rail and multiple bus lines.

If we count that all (station and ballpark and the rest) as one project, then it's the one I'm looking forward to most.

Although I secretly wish the Earthquakes would be playing there. Soccer and pub culture just go together.

San Jose Diridon has the potential to be the best train station in the Bay Area if it's done right. Something like the Liege-Guillemins station would be awesome.

Urban Market developers seek to buy Fallon House parking lot

The fact they want to buy this property indicates they're pretty optimistic about the Market...which in turn makes me optimistic about all of downtown.

I'm not surprised at all, they are almost fully leased and the weekly SJ Eats and farmers market events are going to be huge. It'll take at least a couple years to build out that space so now's the time to get started.
