I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about Skyscrapercity on Flickr, Flickr photos on Skyscrapercity and all Skyscrapercity members that are also Flickr members.

This thread can be used as some kind of helpdesk when it comes to Flickr, but also to share your ideas and opinions. Give the Skyscrapercity members updates of your newest photos on Flickr and share your profile so Skyscrapercity members can add each other if they'd like to. Tell us something about your latest upload as well, I'm trying to avoid creating another photothread where everyone can just simply dump their photos

I don't know if everyone on the forum has noticed this but there is also a Skyscrapercity Flickr Group. Make sure to take a look and contribute images to the group yourself as a Skyscrapercity member

If there are any errors or problems with your Flickr images, let us know here. If there are issues with Flickr again, ask your questions here and let's discuss it here instead of opening a new thread every single time in the about the forums section.

+++ FLICKR POSTING RULES +++

- Always credit the source or photographer [this is mandatory, and should be normal to all of you. You do the exact same thing with non Flickr photos]
- Did you take the photo yourself? Still credit.
- Use the BBCODE

Here's how you use the BBcode on Flickr:

- No exceptions. If the BBcode isn't available, then the original photographer or Flickr member doesn't want his or her photo to be shared. ACCEPT THIS. Also, it would be nice if you read the description of the photo on Flickr. Some members state in the description that they don't want anyone to use their photos without their explicit permission.

I think that that's not true. As long as they've licensed their images through creative commons you're allowed to share the pics under the conditions applied by that specific license.

It is true. I do it myself actually. I put in my description: this photo may not be used without my explicit permission. If someone would like to hotlink my photo, he or she needs to ask me for permission. We respect people's terms, and don't ignore such statements. Yes, officially you can hotlink any photo from there no matter what the photographer says, though that's not what this is about.

Both officially and legally. Of course, there is a thing called decency which will prevent most people from doing it.

Yes and sadly enough a lot of our members don't seem to have that decency. In fact, it results into complaints from Flickr members. Though they don't have a leg to stand on, Flickr will shut us down anyway. So again, please respect photographers and their terms.
