yes that is correct, Vancouver, Canada, has the most density of any N.A city outside of NYC, and chicago, and I'd say its pretty close to chicago, only it is much shorter than chicago.

those are flattering pictures of houston (looks awesome) but what you dont see are the surface lots behind downtown (to the east where the stadiums are) asn i would imagine LA is considrably more dense.

new olreans: wow...easily among the densest in the country...along with beantown and SF

charlotte: much love for the city but that pic was not flattering.

style?

jacksonville: the most un-american looking skyline. looks asian but with grits.

OKC looks pretty good as well and green

At the risk of generating a lot of yawning, I will post the following aerials. Please, keep in mind that they are ALL outdated, even though the overall picture may not be altered significantly. All images are web finds.

This is live image, so it may change throughout the day. At 9:21am it looked really cool, with the cranes dominating the South End. [Note: I did not realize it until later, but the camera changes angles, so you may not see downtown all the time.]

I drove past Jacksonville more than once a month for about 4 months, and never until I saw the Aerials did I realize how anemic the skyline is, it has less density than downtown charlotte, and thats, pretty hard to do to. Yea I know I'm dissing my own hometown.

Jacksonville could use some filling in, but the buildings it does have are nice (Modis and Bank Of America in particular). According to skyscraperpage, there are 44, 51 and 70 story projects proposed which will help.

It was 16 years between the arrival of the two tallest (mentioned above) buildings.

Raleigh-NC, I'm surprised you didn't post this cool 'aerial' of Durham.. I really like the density in the background.

Durham's downtown really is a diamond in the rough.

Great photos of Durham. They may not have alot of tall buildings but the density is great! I love the way the streets form angles. It makes things interesting. downtowns dont always have to be sqaure grids

Nice photos all! I'm really impressed with Durham. The downtown looks very organic, and shows that high-rises aren't everything. I hope Charlotte can really fill in, because it's surprisingly lacking in density for such a well known and large city. But, then again, I've seen some pictures of the downtown from the 70's and 80's, and it looks like it was hit REALLY hard by urban renewal efforts, so I guess in comparison to then it's quite an improvement.

Birmingham, from the air, reminds me a lot of my homestate of Michigan in that the large industrial areas blend seemlessly with the downtown areas.

BTW, as has been said, those shots of Houston are quite flattering. If taken from the other angle you'd see the surface lots that potmark the area. It's still an impressively tall downtown area, but the shots are kind of deceiving and LA definitely has the edged, density wise.

BTW, does anyone have any aerials of Knoxville or some of the other smaller, second-tier cities?
