Yes I do. A subway would be better though. This will be like London Express $18 probably vs a $3 subway ride.

Time will tell, but I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be around the same price or more as the Airport Express bus they have now running. It ain't cheap.

No, it will not be cheap. They gave an estimate a few years ago and I was floored. I will definitely stick to the subway/Rocket bus.

How expensive was it? If it is anything more than $10, it would be an instant failure.

It was so long ago I can't remember... but it seemed ridiculously high. Wayyy more than ten bucks one way. Maybe double that.

Today they take a $50 cab. It's damn near impossible to actually expense a TTC ride due to a lack of a receipt, not to mention the time cost is severe. The target is 5000 riders per day and I don't think that will be difficult to achieve at a $25 to $30 price point to a frequent business class train that never gets stuck in traffic. My favourite example was when SBC executives came to visit my employer. They flew in on a private aircraft, landed at Pearson (fairly large), climbed in the limo we sent them, and nearly instantly got stuck in traffic. That was their only visit and all meetings after that were held in other offices. That firm no longer has any employees in Toronto; many were relocated. Highway congestion and day-tripping business men with power to make real decisions are why we need, and are building, a reliable business class airport train. Yes, build Eglinton out to T1's basement and add Woodbine as a regular GO stop on the Georgetown line with all day hourly or better service; but none of that removes the need for a reliable and frequent business class transport form of some kind. HOV/toll lanes on Gardiner would do just as well provided the toll was steep enough to keep it uncongested.

Munich, Annecy or Pyeongchang? Who do you think will win the 2018 Winter Olympics? The winner will have an effect on who will bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Also, that will effectively eliminate any competition from Rome or Madrid. |

PyeongChang FTW lol
A good friend of mine works for one of the largest sports booking agencies in Korea and he promised me free tickets for events in PC 2018 : ) Plus, Germany's hosted far too many games anyway...and for the the winter Olympics and winter sports to thrive, it will be wise to tap into the growing eastern market...after all, you and I both know that the west is in decline while the east is on the rise

There's a reason why Munich has the upper hand; it's an actual city with things to do, you know? Kinda like why Vancouver was so successful as a WOG host. Big city, but with the mountains to support a bid. From what I read, PyeongChang is this third rate village up in the Korean mountains far from everything. That's why it consistently lost its bids... It's like Lake Placid. |

And about being a small village, well that shouldn't be a problem, Korea is a small country the size of Southern Ontario (with way better transportation infrastructure) so the games will never be too far from major urban centres |

Well, competition is not exactly stiff to host the Winter Olympics, as they cost big bucks and the return is small. Therefore cities that have previously hosted them and have the infrastructure in place make the best candidates. I can guarantee you one thing; whoever wins the bid won't be silly enough to spend as much money as Canada did.

"That's why it consistently lost its bids... It's like Lake Placid."
If being like Lake Placid rules a place out as a contender, then how did Lake Placid win? And on an unrelated note, how did FIW manage to have a double post over an hour apart with TB posting in between? Kinda weird? |

Pyeongchang, South Korea won the bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Toronto is in a fantastic position now. Tokyo is running for 2020, but I don't think they'll give two Olympic games in a row to Asia.
