Is there any real intention to replace the current cupola and lanterns with the historical ones on the Berliner Dom??

Do they intend to wait until the City Palace reconstruction is complete (or almost complete) before constructing the Einheits memorial? Or does anyone know when construction of the Einheits memorial will begin?

Construction on the Unification Memorial is supposedly starting in 2014 already.

As for the Berliner Dom / Cathedral, there's no current plans to bring it to its former appearance. But let's just wait some more years until we've seen the Royal Palace of Berlin injected back in its heart again...

The Memorial is going to completely break my heart. Is there a final design for it?

Do you know which part of the Stadtschloss is going to be rebuilt first?

I just hope that the layout of the palace will allow later generations to tear down the ugly modernist facade towards the Spree river. If that is done, we will only need a thousand more similar reconstructions of buildings allover the city in order to make Berlin again a worthy European capital.

So are we sure that the cross on the cupola will be back?

i think so, it would look strange without cross, and its "normal" that old residences of kings in europe have an cross on the top.

I am atheist, but I think there should be the cross, its part of the castle, of the history..

There was also a biblical quote below the dome and around the drum, but I don¡t think it will be recreated too.

Imagine yourself walking towards the Schloss and looking at both the rebuilt Portal IV and the original, now part of the Staatsratsgebäude.

Of course the quotes and the cross on top of the cupola will be reconstructed. Why should it be left out?

They should definitely reconstruct the Imperial National Memorial -
and built the Unification Memorial at the Bundestag instead!

"He" doesn't have to. It could just as well be financed by private and corporate sponsorings.

Berlin doesn't need reconstructions just good quality architecture.
