Joe, don't you worry, I was referring to our Halifax Eagle here.

Ludi, thank you for the heads-up on the Schluterhof webcam, as well as all the great pictures you've posted of the construction progress.

If you look carefully at the webcam image of the Westfassade during daylight, you can see the octagonal base of the dome taking shape.

That is it!!! Now I have to defend all 316 Million Americans once and for all!!

That in case, you thought that I am crazy! Therefore all 316 Million Americans would be crazy in that case. But I have to defend them! I am not American

But I would not expect a German to know where Halifax is. (Or American)

Don't you feel offended pal! I've seen Halifax on flight monitors at least, so I'm aware where it is.
I don't exclude Canadians from my (North)American definition in this case, Mexicans rather, but that's another story. Urban planning is often done differently in the "New World". I've seen the craziest stuff done to pre-modernist buildings in various downtowns.

Anyway, if you want a whole city for mere carparks, take something like Pforzheim or Kassel, there hardly ain't anything that could be saved.

I was joking. I took it really with humor. I know You from the two other Forums. I am born German and moved with my parents to Canada. I am Citizen now. Anyway, I like your work, erbse. Is there any way to move pictures from the German Forums to Skyscrapercity? Potsdam , Frankfurt or now Luebeck? I have a job and family and little time. Anyway I got your joke and I like You.

The Marstall, I have been told, was not decorated inside. It was for 100`s of carriages and 2000 horses plus feed. It could have looked like a farm stable inside. When the car was invented in Germany, so i have been told, there where fire trucks and up to 20 - 30 cars stored inside that Marstall. The building was designed for moving vehicles. But that was a rumor I have heard from friends living in Berlin. I also din`t know, there was a Music School inside. Makes me wonder, how much space they would need. Besides, the Marstall needs reconstruction of it`s former roof and also is sinking in the river on one side. So the school may have to move out.

Schön! Very nice photos Ludi. Is there a set date for the facade to start being installed? I might be going to Berlin in June so I just want to have an idea of how this project will be by then :p.

As always, great pictures, Ludi! But I don't understand the curvature of the outside of the form where the base of the dome is being built. Isn't this section to be the octagonal base of the dome?

Ludi, I am so glad you posted the link to the Webcam. Since then, when I log on, I always go to the last page, read new messages and look at new pictures, and then go to page 46 and scroll down and click on your link.

It's been fascinating to watch the construction progress on the Webcam. (It's also been nice to see Berlin's cloudy skies finally clearing and the days getting longer as winter wears on!)

This forum has also been fascinating. I "lurked" here for a long time before finally registering. Now I wish I had registered long before. While reading this forum, I have felt one overriding sentiment, and that is, who would ever have imagined we would be seeing this in our lifetimes? And not just the rebuilding of this palace, but the rebirth of Dresden's Neumarkt, the restoration of Russia's Alexander Palace, etc, etc, etc. It's astonishing, even more so when one remembers that these things wouldn't be possible without fundamental changes in governments and popular sentiment.

I just want to say thank you to all for the informative, as well as fascinating, posts and pictures here of the rebirth of this magnificent palace.

Yes!

Wow, the structure on the roof will be quite visible. I hope, they know, what they are doing and will design it in a way, that isn't to distracting and ugly.

The first bricks for the façade are there, like you can see at the webcam westside.

How exciting to see the bricks being delivered! I really enjoyed looking at the bricking up of the concrete walls of the rebuilt Potsdam palace (I think pictures posted by Ludi in the thread about that) and am looking eagerly forward to seeing the same with Berliner Stadtschloss. How thrilling!

I see the scaffolding is being taken down on the south façade.
