Thanks! I wasn't sure how you guys would feel about me doing this night thing. It's kind of hit and miss with me. Sometimes, I get a perfect night shot, and other times, they're blurred, and I really don't know what I'm doing that makes the difference. I just keep shooting. That's why I waited until after I had shot everything from land, by sea, and in the air before I started doing this night thing because I knew it would be challenging. Plus, I'm just not as crazy about night as I am about aerials, but I'm really getting into how the lights and colors on the buildings play with each other.

Anyway, I gotta tell you guys this. While I was shooting from the South Miami Avenue bridge, there was another photographer there that I talked to. A woman with her dog walked by and I spoke to her at length about what breed it was. That last time I was shooting from there, a guy actually stopped and asked me if I was getting any good pictures, and I showed him. People are out walking their dogs all over the place, and if you'll notice in that pic of Wachovia I shot last night, there is a couple at the base of the building going out for the evening. Downtown Miami is definitely becoming more alive, and I guess because I have this big expensive Nikon camera strapped around my neck, people take me for a professional photographer and a non-threatening person, so they feel comfortable stopping and talking to me.

But what I really found most impressive is the fact that while I was walking to Brickell Village from Brickell Avenue along Fittipaldi Way (10th Street), I saw this very attractive young woman walking by herself with a Publix bag of groceries in each hand, and by the time I saw her, she was a good way from the Brickell Village Publix. She was almost to Brickell Avenue. I thought "Wow! She must feel really comfortable in the Brickell area to do that." I thought that was just fantastic! In this first pic here is about where I saw her passing this point. It looked as though she was headed to Avenue.

Great pics....the only thing that is sad is that I can't seem to find any "great" Christmas decorations around town....??? I took some pics of some Christmas Trees in South Beach...but that is about it....I can't believe a city as big as Miami with so many tourists, will not go all the way out on Christmas decorations....there is a thread on the Latin America site called "Christmas Decorations in your City" I could not show any of Miami cause there weren't any worth showing. Singapore has some beautiful city decorations....better than NYC ...IMO.....MIAMI....needs to get with the program....

Thanks! Have you ever been to Enchanted Lane in North Miami? FPL and some of the homeowners on that street do it up every Christmas. Donations from people driving up the street go to the Children with AIDS foundation. It's right off of NE 16th Avenue I believe near 135th Street and Biscayne. Turning west onto 135th Street from Biscayne, it will be the next turn on your right. Hey, the Miami Tower is one giant Christmas tree this year!

I wish I had a high-rise balcony again. When I had my 15th South Beach apartment, I had four ficus trees on my balcony. Three small ones and one big one. The three small ones each had a set of white lights that blinked in a random pattern. The big one had three sets of white lights that blinked in a random pattern, and so it looked like a fireworks display was going on on my balcony that you could see all the way from the MacArthur Causeway. This year, I have them on the back of the pool fence where only people going up and down the Little River can see them. I'd love to do that again from really high up downtown.

Well, considering you're on my pictures thread, how about saying something on topic?

Well, it is! In saying what I said, I was distinguishing between a thread that I primarily contribute to as opposed to one that the entire forum randomly contributes to such as the Downtown Miami Pictures thread. That way, this person knows these photos were all taken by me and not by someone else or found somewhere else on the Internet unless otherwise specified. Glad to see you're perusing the thread though.

I drove over to Hobie Island last night to get some shots of the skyline from that perspective, but nothing came out worth posting. Apparently, it's too far away to shoot without a tripod even with me reclining against a palm tree and holding my breath.

However, the photo above taken of downtown Miami from the Port of Miami bridge last night, with the party yacht and Bayside in the foreground, I think is my best night shot yet taken from that perspective. Likewise, I was able to improve on my shot down Brickell Avenue from the Miami River bridge and I deleted the blurry one.

I'm still working on getting a better shot of Icon Brickell and Plaza at Brickell from in front of One Miami across the Miami River. If you've never taken in that perspective at night, I suggest you take a walk. Photos can't do it justice! It's incredibly dynamic!

Thanks! Yes, that Espirito Santo building is really something, especially at night. I could hardly stop taking pictures of it. This photo of it below I had originally dismissed as too dark, but then, I decided to brighten it, and it became one of my favorite shots of the building because of this ghostly effect. It looks almost as if nothing is holding up the front of the buidling. I'm waiting to hear from the building manager of 1450 Brickell to see if he'll let me up onto the skydeck of 1450 Brickell just after sunset so that I can capture Espirito Santo and the vista up Brickell Avenue the way Costal Construction let me shoot from there while it was under construction.
