What will happen to the existing IST airport when the new airport is completed?

Either close it and redevelop the land. Or they will probably shrink the size of the airport foot print and make it more of a general aviation/business type airport along with MRO stations.

-Atatürk Airport will be reduced to its original capacity of 25-30 PAX.
Will be used mainly for cargo and charter flights.

- Sabiha Gökcen will be expanded to 70 PAX

- 3rd Airport will have a capacity of 70 PAX. If it is not enough it will expanded to 90 PAX. And still can be expanded to 120 PAX and later to max. of 150 PAX.

Following a competitive interview process, Nordic — Office of Architecture together with Haptic Architects, Grimshaw Architects and Arup Associates have been appointed by the Turkish consortium of ‘Cengiz, Mapa, Limak, Kolin and Kalyon’ to design the terminal complex for the Istanbul New Airport.

Based on the Black Sea coast, some 35km out*side of Is*tan*bul, the am*bi*tious six-run*way de*vel*op*ment will be de*liv*ered in four phases. The first phase will open in 2019 and aims to serve 90 mil*lion pas*sen*gers per year. This will in*crease to over 150 mil*lion pas*sen*gers per an*num when the last phase is com*pleted. The new Is*tan*bul Air*port will be the world’s largest air*port ter*mi*nal, with a gross floor area close to one mil*lion square me*tres for the first ter*mi*nal.

“We are glad to be able to respond to the high demands of the client and create an exceptional solution, both in terms of functionality and architecture”
— Principal Partner of Nordic, Gudmund Stokke —

I'd say taxiway when you take into account the close proximity to runway 05.

The masterplan indicates apron expansion.

That's an aerial photo of Antalya Airport (AYT / LTAI ); I don't think there's thread specifically about this one here, but there are threads about all Turkish airports; if not in this section, then definitely in the Turkish section.
