Oh, I see. I think the court ruling was about moving the actual capital (i.e. relocating from Seoul to Sejong), which they determined to be illegal.

I assume all the Govt. ministries are moving to Sejong City? At least there you can stay in Seoul and take the KTX to work everyday. Bitch of a commute, though.

Really, this decentralisation policy seems to be really clumsily handled, ill considered madness.

Who is responsible for this absurd policy?
this guy is responsible

Ha ha, old President Roh, huh? I knew it was his idea to shift the capital from Seoul to Sejong city. I didn't realise he also wanted to move the public companies to the provinces though. So, he's been out of power (and, in fact, dead,) for many years now, why are his plans still going ahead? Why haven't 2MB or PGH had the courage or wisdom to nix these preposterous proposals?

On a personal note, I have strongly disliked Roh since before he was elected. I can clearly remember being caught in one of his Presidential rallies in 2002. I was trying to visit the Kyobo book store when Roh was whipping up anti-American fervour in Gwanghwamun in an attempt to boost his popularity. Despite not being American, I was booed and hissed at by a large crowd of Roh supporters shouting their "Yankee go home!" slogans at me. A couple of them threw trash and bottles at me. It was pretty much the most negative experience I have ever had in Korea and was a direct result of Roh emotionally manipulating the populace using the unfortunate deaths of two middle school girls in a political move to increase his personal standing. No sympathy for me when he committed suicide some years later in the wake of a corruption scandal.

And still his legacy is damaging South Korea...

this situation is very similar with the movie(Swing vote)....

politicians just concerned about vote. so lee and park cannot not cancel..
these project...

because of sejong city, choong chung privince people has casting vote for every kind of election in korea...

if senuri party abandoned sejong city and moving the corps,
they cannot make president for a longtime and lost seats.... so, lee and park keep going...

I'm angry with rage. They booed and hissed on my friend! What a racist fxxxk them all. If i was there I would punch on they ugly face.
what a rudeness people. If USA didn't help in korean war, now korea become like a north korea.
they are ungrateful to return evil for good. I'm so sorry about your bad experience from korean.
Mr ROH is worst president in korea history.
Before he suicide, korea prosecutor prepare solitary confinement jail for him
surprisingly with his suicide suddenly all suspension indictment and he become hero in korea.

and according to the today news those move the public companies to the provinces ABOUT 80% EMPLOYEE MOVING ALONE leave behind family in seoul
THAT means among 140 public company and national ministry which moving to province most of them dislike suburban and opponent to moving with whole family. so they have to choose between JOBS AND FAMILY LIFE.
separated families by stupid policy. It is countless social cost to this wrong policy.
Make new HQ office in suburban+sale seoul's HQ office cheaper than real price+moving all facility+moving whole employee+furthermore people must visit public company for many ask and task to suburban+separated families for ever
When thse public company gather in seoul very convenient for visit and no need spent money and time on the ROAD.
But from now on WHOLE korean must visit to travel whole country concern for public company work

The city is constantly changing and improving, even if it is currently stuck with an idiot mayor and a weak, gutless president who won't cancel the washed up ideas of her disgraced predecessor.

Yes; it seems like one thing Korea has lacked, since the Joseon dynasty anyway, is a good, strong leader. Before the Japanese colonial period, it was just weak leaders beholden to the yangban class, bunch of incompetent fools they were. Now, the leaders of the South just try to keep their power by not upsetting the people or the chaebol, and the North...well, I don't even need to say, do I?

To the list we should add the only 4 skyscrapers still proposed for Seoul from YIBD.

They are:

-Harmony Tower, 233m, 47 fl, Pro
-Dancing Towers I, 170m, 41 fl, App
-Dancing Towers II, 170m, 41 fl, App
-Dancing Towers III, 170m, 41 fl, App

It's sad that they are the only projects from YIBD still alive.

Aww, I hope all of the charm of Noryangjin isn't taken away. Still have really great memories of the sights and smells of the place . At the same time, the area did look pretty worn; keeping my fingers crossed.

That's good news! I hope they will come up with some good/innovative ideas.

It would be nice to have a city beach with sand and beach-style cocktail bars at Hangang. We also have them in most big cities in Europe, and I think hangang would be perfect for that (a lot of space and beautiful sunsets).

It would be great if they could maybe put a tunnel or something over the expressways next to green areas like Banpo Hangang Park or Jamsil Hangang Park.
This would reduce the noise and improve the air quality in those areas i guess
