Cinemax in SL...its already there in Mani, whch almst runs with 50-60% occupancy...just imagine, if they open an unit in SL, what will happen to that one!!

I have seen CINEMAX written Ad in one u/c building near Karunamoyee. Also, I think there is a spencers coming up(or already there?) in same complex..

Multiplex concentration generally depends on the aggressive or sluggish expansion plans of the companies. Also regional players look to consolidate their own region first before venturing out to other regions whereas national players target several locations pan India at the same time.
Currently, the Top 6 National level players are PVR, Inox, Fame, Cinemax, BIG Cinemas & Fun Republic.

The numbers have definitely increased but I dont think the player status has changed much.

Chennai has the least penetration of branded multiplex as local players like Sathyam Cinemas & others have converted standalone cinema halls into multiplex.
Regional players like Bioscope(Kol), London Paris(Mum, Kol), Innovative(Bang), DT Cinemas(Del/NCR, Mum), Broadway(Mum, Kol, Bang), Prasads(Hyd), SRS Cinemas(Del/NCR)
So you see Kolkata & Bangalore are neck to neck in Brand multiplex penetration, way ahead of Chennai & Hyderabad but way behind Mumbai & Delhi/NCR.

It's in AH Block on the backside of GSI Complex. Now I remember seeing the spencers U/C about an year back. Then the Cinemax is coming up there

Not related to Kolkata. But to show how INOX is bullish about Bengal. Looks like they just lunched thier 2nd multiplex in Siliguri. Its high time for Fame to go for Siliguri, Asansol etc..

Inox Leisure launches second multiplex in Siliguri

MUMBAI: Multiplex chain Inox Leisure has launched its second multiplex in Siliguri, at the City Centre, Matigara.

With this, Inox now has 10 multiplex properties in West Bengal and a total of 40 multiplexes and 151 screens across 26 Indian cities.

The new Siliguri plex has four screens with a capacity of 1199 seats.

Inox Leisure CEO Alok Tandon said, "We at Inox take pride in bringing the best movie-going experience once again to our patrons of Silguri with the launch of our second multiplex at City Centre, Matigara. We will continue to offer the Inox hospitality and ensure more and more patrons chose Inox to watch their movies."

Are you talking about the property beside the 'Haveli' restaurant? About six months back I passed by that area and saw the Spencer's board was gone. Has it opened recently again?

There's currently 4 Spencer's large format outlets in Kolkata

@ Mani Square Mall
@ Rashbehari Avenue
@ Axis Mall
So I guess The CK Blk store was not launched. However, if it is a small format one, the ones present in many suburbs of the city, then it might be there..

Only in Chennai, there are two plexes Sathyam and Mayajaal which has 10 and 12 screen plex respectively, and i think that's the highest in India!!

The highest screen count is PVR cinemas,Forum Bangalore(11 screens).However an even bigger PVR is soon coming up at the new Orion Mall(also 11screens).

PVR Forum was the largest by no of screens (11) when it opened in 2004.
Today's largest multiplex by no of screens (14) is 'Mayajaal' in East Coast Rd, Chennai.
