There's one just opened in town.

Watch this of what an average weekend was for me.

You couldn't beat the the atmosphere during the late 80's early 90's,I used to love going the Quad, this was the smaller venue next door but the all nighter was the first club in the Country that people would travel to from other cities. There'd be 10,000 people in there going nuts, there was nothing like it.It was bizarre, the place was rammed and yet when the lights were turned down and the smoke machines kicked in and the music was turned right down, lasers would penetrate the smoke and you felt like you were the only one there in your own little World. But once the music kicked in and the lights were turned back on,there was just a mass of bodies going nuts,I'd give anything to experience that again.

Some of the worst type of lid cane weed. Legal smoke zones on Wood or Seel streets would make those places so much worse. Yes, I suppose cannibis cannot make a good man bad, but our baddoes love it and where it's smoked openly is a place you don't want to be.

Not really my thing, tbh Awayo or my scene, but I do believe there is a case for liberalising drug laws. In my experience of Amsterdam there's little associated trouble with cannabis cafes, and I would see prostitution legalised as well.

There hasn't been enough long term study in to cannabis use for it be legalized. The most recent evidence is that it can cause schizoprenia if used from late teens. That's all we need isn't a population of zonked, passive or schizoid zombies...oh sorry we already do.

I haven't touched the stuff since I was at university in the early 90's, personally it never had much affect on me. You may have a point though about long term use.

I smoked it from 15 years of age until i was 34. Luckily it didn't impair my faculties in any way i just got to the point were i wanted full control of my senses and that included stopping drinking shorty after. Some people are not so lucky and i've personally seen the damage it can do. I'm against decriminalising it as well. Just my opinion folks

For a few months in the summer of 89 The State in Dale st was one of the best nights in Liverpool...!

Sadly it wasn't long before the crooks got wind of what was going on and took over en masse...!

I can recall being body searched at the door by bouncers , walking in to the venue only to be accosted by several Berghaus clad dealers "Want any pills lad...?"

Good times though , other clubs that deserve a mention are "Emotions" on Seel st and "The Underground" also on Dale st towards the tunnel entrance

A brilliant time and laugh was had by all though even if there were to many "Heads" on the scene , i can remember going to all nighters above the Taxi repair centre on Prescot Rd and some moody industrial unit in Everton , great times...

The State was one of the best clubs in its day, but as you say criminality soon moved in, even including guns. I remember where the Underground was, (the old Echo building), but never went there. Another good club in the early 90's was the Merseyside Academy, the forerunner of Cream. It had a happy, safe vibe, studenty and local. Used to put allnighters on in 92.

Whilst Glastonbury does have many commercial elements i think it's the best of the big ones (of which i have done most) for value for money/ethical implementation. I can't wait for next week, I'm practically sat at the door with my bags packed waiting like a child going to Disney World.

These days I like my tempo fast and my Bass line heavy if i'm out serious clubbing, DnB, Dubstep, Grime or French house music to all forms of Metal and Indie music

Sadly at the Ripe old age of 25, i find my stamina has some what dwindled and come 3am i usually want to go home, have a sit down, a cuppa and listen to some Devendra Banheart or some delightful triphop outfit.

Used to have an awesome DnB night at Barfly, but that seems to have been canned.

My youth was mainly spent in The Krazyhouse & Le Bateau at the beginning of the Indie Renaissance we saw in the early naughties. I was usually found gothinng it up on K1. They were goodtimes..

I think it's risky comparing Underground/Mainstream musical acts of now to those of the 90's/80's/70's/60's the way we share music since 1999 has completely changed, different tastes open to all and instantly, Most 'mainstream' artists now have to build their audience from scratch on the web and in the clubs before they get a look in with a label.

Added on to the fact that most people look upon their formative years with rose tinted specs, what you had will always seem better than they have now.

Badformat had potential as a venue, but i don't think it managed to live up to the hype which is disappointing, Love the Kazamier, especially since it still remains a bit of a hidden gem.

I also tend to pop down the Gbar on the Occasional Thursday/Sunday, I don't hate the music in the boosh room, and well realistically how am i expected to find the future Mr Watto to make me cups of Tea come 3am on a Saturday?...

The State was at its best when it played the Smiths before it went dance although it was good for a while once it started playing house. There were some really good early house clubs. The Underground was on Victoria street underneath where the Indian restaurant and estate agents are near the tunnel. Emotions was a good club. Flintlocks and Rios were good around 88/89 aswell when they went 'house'. Flintlocks went too scally though in the end.
The academy was good for bands aswell when it was on Hanover street next to the second Planet X.
As a break from the house music, liked the Manxman when that wa open - proper novelty. So should have been brought back and put in Salthouse dock.
