Distinctive European medieval townscapes

Every country/region in Europe has it's own distinctive medieval townscape. Some have become so clichéd, that if you see them, you can instantly tell their country/region. Here, as an example, my three favorite medieval townscape styles:

English medieval town, Ludlow:

Of course there are much more throughout Europe! You mind telling us your favorites? Or maybe you want to show us how your country's medieval townscapes look like.

Quedlinburg, Germany. It contains the largest collection of medieval houses in Germany:

The surviving Hanse cities contain some of the most impressive architecture anywhere in Europe.

Sandomierz, south east Poland. Population - just over 25,000. Not damaged in WW2. Historically significant town in Poland.

Underground tourist route. Pretty cool. Warsaw is digging under it's Old Town as well and prepping it's medieval basements for tourists.

The best preserved medieval town in Slovakia is probably Bardejov in NE Slovakia with many gothic houses and renaissance town hall. The city is also in UNESCO heritage list

pictures are from city website and tripadvisor

I think many cities in Poland can learn from Torun when they're going to reconstruct their historic Innercities, such other Hanse-cities like Kolobrzeg, Sczcecin, Elblag and many more. The only one which I don't like is the way they rebuild the Altstadt in Elblag, that's just an mix of mostly modern and some old, allthough they got some really nice reconstructions But the most houses seems to much 'mixed'..........

Monsaraz, Portugal
Monsaraz is a small medieval town in the Alentejo region, southern Portugal. It's one of the most well preserved in the country. Simply stunning!
