These days,I can finally go to sleep in peace.....for I know,that even when I am asleep,over 2 million workers are working on 15000 building projects including 750 skyscrapers so that I wake up to a new city every morning: Mirza from the changing city of Dhaka,Bangladesh |

Wasn't there a drive to remove overhead cables from city roads and streets? Has that effort stalled like all other good initiatives?

There are plenty of highly developed cities that have jungles of overhead cables. I would be surprised if Dhaka were able to get rid of them. Maybe in a few select affluent areas...or perhaps in future expansions like Purbachal if pre-planned as such...but otherwise I doubt overhead cables are going anywhere soon.

Ideally, yes, but sadly the riverfront is no longer an affluent or desirable area of town. The buildings in the pic above I consider relatively interesting for the area. Compare for example to the huge commie-block complex going up in Sadarghat.
