Dan Marino was a great quarterback, what do you expect when you are playing with guys that just aren't on the same level? Seriously, Marino had NOBODY to pass to, NO running game. It's hard being a QB when you aren't surrounded by talent.

I never actually got to see how many years were on James, Bosh, and Wade's contracts until a couple of minutes ago. It's 6 years-110 million for Bosh and James, and 6 years-107 million for Wade, niceeeee
.

Granted during his time there the defenses and running game weren't rarely any good.

A "number" wasn't just retired for Dan Marino, he was a UNANIMOUS first-ballot Hall-of-Famer the instant he became eligible, and virtually none of those votes came from anyone even remotely connected to Miami or the Dolphins. Maybe you're just a kid or some bitter New York putz angry about LeBron that thinks the entire world revolves around your very limited orbit of what constitutes greatness, but Dan Marino was a fabulously gifted athlete who set some of the highest benchmarks in NFL history. His toughness, talent and desire are questioned by NOBODY with even the slightest knowledge of the game. Obviously, that equation excludes you. Oh, and that "joke" of an organization called the Miami Heat has already won their first title and did so only four years ago (when you were 9, apparently). Please accept all our apologies they didn't just vanish into obscurity and lay down for the Godforsaken Knicks or whoever shoots your wad to be the team everyone is talking about. Boo freakin Hoo. Come back with better material, and if it's Marino you want to talk I'm MORE than ready, child. |

No question Marino alone made ALL of them better just by his own great ability, but there was genuine talent in the receiving department. The Dolphins failure in that era was the inability to put it all together. For all the offensive pyrotechnics, there was rarely a dependable runner and at the height of Dan's prowess the defense was just inept. As much as I revere Shula (as should any Miamian), he never got it right with that bunch. They came close a few times, though, including that star-crossed year when Dan went down with the achilles injury in Cleveland. His comeback game a year later in Week One in 1994 is legendary. His career was supposed to be over. He never again had the same bounce. But watch this---look at the score---and you tell me this wasn't one tough S.O.B. who did Miami proud. I was privileged to be there that day and watch this man play football: |

Dan Marino was awesome, he was the Drew Brees of bygone days.
![]() BTW, I was watching Sportscenter yesterday, the only time they broke from Lebronarama was for a random interview with Drew Brees (he does have a book coming out but I did not hear them mention that).

^ well I will agree that was a bad PR move on his part. Still that is no reason to call the people of Miami "classless" either!

You were the one rubbing it my face my friend, remember? Telling me I'm just upset because "we lost our king". Well, he is not my king and he never was. I don't even like basketball. But, I did live in Cleveland and while it's not my favorite city, I will say this, those people don't deseve to be humiliated on national TV. Not only has he hurt NE Ohio, but all of the people of Ohio. His "news conference" was a slap in our collective face. Like I said, I don't even like the game and even I was upset. But I'm sure none of this is new to you folks in Miami. Anyway, for the sake of civility, I apologize for my comment.
