LeBron has been running with that title for a while now and he's just spreading the love with his new teamates and city.

I like Wade but Lebron is clearly a phenomenon. This is sports (and therefore entertainment). Its not like were talking about who's the best brain surgeon. |

But here's an article that I think sums up the current situation pretty well. Lebron James, unlike any other current player, transcends basketball to the point where more non-basketball fans know him and that's what makes him the King (or at least lets him market himself as one). http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/pos...-matters-again |

That depends on the Heat's ability to actually play Lakers' quality basketball, or Celtics quality, or for that matter, Orlando quality. The verdict is still out.

Actually I remember someone saying on the radio Miami at Cleveland will be the Christmas day game (it was actually scheduled before Lebron made his decision) but it will be REALLY interesting now.

^Nah -- I think it'll ultimately be a good thing for Miami and for Florida sporting interests. That said, there is nothing invincible about this trio...yet.

Hanley Ramirez just hit 9 homers in the Homerun Derby, I believe that puts him at 2nd for the first round. If this was about having the best cleats, he'd be winning though.

True...but it's really, really hard to envision it not working out barring injury. They're just going to be putting overwhelming talent on the court and even the supporting cast looks like it's going to be decent. Hard to imagine this bunch not winning at least 60 in the regular season unless they totally lose focus---but I doubt that'll happen.

Hanley has a chance to win the Homerun Derby! He's in the finals vs. David Ortiz.

Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins finishes second in Homerun Derby, while David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox wins.

Prior to signing Haslem, six of seven ESPN analysts still named the Lakers as the best team in the league (which I fear I might agree with). J.A. Adande listed them as only the fourth best team in the league. I think as the Heat continue to sign quality role players, their chances at a title increase exponentially. Still, I agree, Wade, LeBron and Bosh alone aren't going to win any championships. |
