LeBron has been running with that title for a while now and he's just spreading the love with his new teamates and city.

What's funny is that the LeBron is king of nothing. He does not have an NBA title. Wade does. I love the Wade Country t-shirts.

I only hope they don't start the we are all witnesses business. It's a complete joke and tacky.

You've got 3 top 10 players taking less money to play together. Do you really want them to have small egos??? This is sports. It's entertainment. What kind of ego do you them to have.

"Ladies and gentleman please welcome 3 decent basketball players that hope to possible win a few games"

He's a two time MVP who led his team to the best regular season record. I agree Lebron needs to win some rings but I don't really see rings and defining who the best players are. If that were the case people would be arguing that Robert Horry is the best with 7 and not Michael Jordan with 6.

I like Wade but Lebron is clearly a phenomenon. This is sports (and therefore entertainment). Its not like were talking about who's the best brain surgeon.

I am not saying people only define a player by how many championships they win, so long as they at least win 1. The NBA is a league where a player in defined on their success with winning titles. People love to put the Jordan/James comparisons out there and it's foolish. Kobe is the only player in the current NBA that is deserving of a comparison.

What are the odds ABC puts Miami-Los Angeles on as the Christmas Day game?

Again this is sports, so its entertainment and very subjective. Especially when you're comparing two individual players in a team sport, it's not like these players and simply play head to head. So while you think a Jordan/James comparison is foolish, that is your OPINION. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Maybe if we put Jordan on James' team he would have never of won, maybe he would have. Maybe if you put James with the Lakers 7 years ago without Kobe and he might have 7 rings by now. We don't know and it's all speculation. Believe what you want to believe and let other believe what they want to believe. And as of right now most people believe James is the closest thing to Jordan. Doesn't make it right, its just the perception.

But here's an article that I think sums up the current situation pretty well. Lebron James, unlike any other current player, transcends basketball to the point where more non-basketball fans know him and that's what makes him the King (or at least lets him market himself as one).

That depends on the Heat's ability to actually play Lakers' quality basketball, or Celtics quality, or for that matter, Orlando quality. The verdict is still out.

Actually I remember someone saying on the radio Miami at Cleveland will be the Christmas day game (it was actually scheduled before Lebron made his decision) but it will be REALLY interesting now.

^Nah -- I think it'll ultimately be a good thing for Miami and for Florida sporting interests. That said, there is nothing invincible about this trio...yet.

Hanley Ramirez just hit 9 homers in the Homerun Derby, I believe that puts him at 2nd for the first round. If this was about having the best cleats, he'd be winning though.

True...but it's really, really hard to envision it not working out barring injury. They're just going to be putting overwhelming talent on the court and even the supporting cast looks like it's going to be decent. Hard to imagine this bunch not winning at least 60 in the regular season unless they totally lose focus---but I doubt that'll happen.

Hanley has a chance to win the Homerun Derby! He's in the finals vs. David Ortiz.

Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins finishes second in Homerun Derby, while David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox wins.

I think we need to celebrate the significance of re-signing Haslem today. Winning a championship requires two components: a superstar and a supporting cast. It doesn't how many stars the Heat sign; without role players, they'll be a second round exit in the playoffs.

Prior to signing Haslem, six of seven ESPN analysts still named the Lakers as the best team in the league (which I fear I might agree with). J.A. Adande listed them as only the fourth best team in the league. I think as the Heat continue to sign quality role players, their chances at a title increase exponentially. Still, I agree, Wade, LeBron and Bosh alone aren't going to win any championships.

Right on about Haslem. The bench could definitely make a difference between a finals appearance or not, but they don't need a support cast like the Lakers to be as successful. With that said, Haslem and Miller are huge pickups considering what they've already spent. Does anyone here think they could possibly go undefeated? Ok, maybe that's extreme, but how bout less than 10 losses? I think the latter is very possible (if they stay healthy).
