What a beautiful bridge! I really want to go & visit the GGB one day...
(Look at all that fog! You can't even see the tower right ahead of you when you're driving!)

Amazing, it has to be the color (International Orange) which make it so attractive to the human eye.

I agree the color really makes it that much better. Hope they never attempt to change it for some odd reason.

And it has good history. They built it during the great depression when they lacked funds AND they were already building the bay bridge AND the area they built it in has high speed winds and strong ocean currents. Not only that but the engineer brought innovations with the bridge like the hard hat.

The US Coast Gaurds wanted the Golden Gate Bridge to be painted yellow and black stripes for better visability during foggy days, thank God that never happened. Here's more wonderful pictures of the bridge taken by Robert Campbell.

I must of crossed the Golden Gate Bridge hundred's of time. Every time I cross it I get a thrill. Yes, it doesn't take much to thrill me.

Cheers!!

Sailing by the South Tower

The Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful but beware the waters between the shore and the south tower. The following pictures taken by photographer Wayne Lambright of San Francisco are from the Latitude 38 website:

May 27th, 1937, the Golden Gate opens to the public. It's a little late but, HAPPY 68th BIRTHDAY TO THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE.

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.
