Port Authorities has asked bidders to submit revised quotation because they added 5 more storey on previously planned 30 storey. As soon as the contructor is awarded it will take another 3 months to mobilise equipment to the site.

Wow! the area is going to be very busy construction-wise.....

Tanzan, are they going to demolish the existing buildings hosting the institute adjacent Sea express terminal?

The Tacoshili building next to the institute will be demolished. This project will start this year. They want to start construction as soon as possible because the govt wanted to take the plot...as a matter of fact they tried.

Yes this area is already busy...first was maktaba area and then Ohio road and now Sokoine Dr (water front) finally.

So here is the run down of projects along Sokoine Dr:

1.PSPF Twin Towers 35+35 storeys
2.Ports Tower 35 storey
3.Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation 20+15 storeys
4.DSM Maritime Institute Tower 12 storey

These projects are all in same area.

I am quiet confident it is not the money issues. Traditionally, port authorities around the world have got xtra cash stashed somewhere...
