Arrow The Science City North | Projects & Construction

THE TRIANGLE OF SCIENCE & KNOWLEDGE - NØRRE CAMPUS

The month of june 2011 marks the officially kick-off for the new science city development for the area between Nørrebro and Østerbro called Nørre Campus. Surrounded by Nørre Allé, Tagensvej and Jagtvej, this triangle will be a gigantic development for integrating and developing the already excisting university campus for more than 10 billion dkr., and are financed by the municipality of Copenhagen, the danish state, and private foundation like Realdania and AP Møller. This include among many projects the Niels Bohr Science park, the Pharma Science Centre, extension of the Panum complex, but also the nearby located Rigshospitalet, our national hospital will be extended with more than 40 %. The coming City Circle Line, green paths for bicycling and pedestrians, student colleges, residences and private business, new bridges connecting the whole area, will all be a part of this impressive plan that will take 8-10 years.

The Danish/German architect company COBE has created the idea for the master plan, but many others are involved as CF Møller architects and Christensen & Co.

There's so much to write about, so why don't start with something we all know well; Det nye Rigshospital.
Our government has recently decided to approve the sum of 1,8 billion d.kr. for the renovation and extension of our national hospital. This include the following:

• The first stage of the North Wing building at the corner against Blegdamsvej and Frederik V's Vej, which built 43,300 M2 with wards, operating rooms and support functions.
• Patient Hotel and administration (8500 M2) in the area against Juliane Maries Vej and Henrik Harpenstrengsvej - finished in 2017.
• Parking Garage with 650 seats against Frederik V's Vej and Edel Saunte Allé - finished in 2014.
• Preparing for the freight terminal, kitchen and central sterile.

Since there's an ongoing competition for the project, and the winning team will be pointed out at the beginning of next year, we have to wait with patience before we see renderings of the buildings.

I'll return with photos later on

Copenhagen City Council has on the 26th of May 2011, adopted local plan proposal for the science institute called Niels Bohr Science Park with its proposals for kommuneplantillæg. Local Plan area is located in Nørrebro, and public consultation period runs from 15th of June to 7th of September 2011.

The idea is to gather the institute in 2 buildings in total 45,000 M2, located on each side of Jagtvej, and connected with a closed foot-bridge and a underground open tunnel. There will be a maximum height of 20-26 meters, so it's not scrabers we're talking about. The competition for designing has been won by Christensen & co, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Rambøll Engineering.

This might look good in polystyrene and in snow, but in the summer render it is hideous...

It hard to find much interesting about constructions in the capital, that seems stone dead for the moment, but here's a small bite.

An article in "Licitationen" describes the planning proces for the coming Panum researcher tower.

As anticipated, it seems as if the bike route has died.

I'm astonished by this. I kinda felt a negative vibe against the project during the public hearing process on blivhoert.kk.dk. Well, great news nevertheless!

Great. Will probably be the best looking highrise in Copenhagen (that is either U/C or completed) in my opinion.

Promotion video of the extension of Rigshospitalet by Aarhus Arkitekterne can be seen here. I know it is from Ekstra Bladet, but in matters like this, I find it a reliable surce.
