Liljeholmen bridge 1962

Folkungagatan 1963

Tram line 7 at Stureplan in 1960. The line has reappeared today and some of these old trams are used from time to time.

SS Mariefred in 1966. The ship is still in traffic today and is probably the oldest ship in the world still on its original route (since 1903).

Birger Jarlsgatan 1960

Götgatan 1964, the building on the left is the Tax Scraper (main office of the National Tax Office until 2003) finished in 1959.

Wow! I'm glad you restarted this most interesting thread. Stockholm sure looks better nowadays. Like most European cities. Keep them coming!

Decaying buildings and an old Mercedes on Södermalm.

More decaying buildings on Södermalm. Today flats in these buildings are highly desired and very expensive.

This is Skatteskrapan. The Tax Scraper, head office of the swedish tax authority. Perfectly placed in a block named Gamen "the vulture".

Its rebuilt in to student flats today.

Malmtorgsgatan towards Brunkebergstorg. All of this is gone today. Demolished around 1970.

Sidenhuset at Hamngatan, demolished in the name of modernity.

More of the lost Stockholm, the block with the small buildings to the right was replaced with the new Åhlens department store (can be seen in an earlier post).

This is really interesting! At least many old buildings are still in Stockholm. I got the feeling that Oslo it's quite different when it comes to old buildings.

Stockholm was to big for them to ruin before the money and political will ran out. And we did get something good out of it aswell, the metro.
