Yeah, if I'm lucky. Normally I get very little sleep, but when I do it's in my van across the front seats. If I have to wait around for a fey days - weekends for example - I get a hotel.

It seems that a lot more polish drive on the left-hand side of the road in mainland Europe then British do in Britain....

I my line of work I adjust automatically as soon as I get of the ferry at either Dover or Calais....

I've done UK-Portugal twice in one week once. Same with UK-Naples. Load Northampton on a Saturday, delivered Naples Monday, loaded Northampton Wednesday and delivered Naples Friday....

Road UK, since your expertise in travels, what do you think about Italian motorways? And what about Naples, as a city?

I like Italian motorways. I find them of superior quality, road signing is good and the tolls are cheap compared to France. Drivers are a story apart, we talked about that before. One one side you got the flashers at 250 km/h and on the other that old bloke in the middle lane in his Fiat Panda doing 80 km/h. This turns me into a flasher as well.

I enjoy eating at Autogrill Services, but especially on the A1 and A4 they are overcrowded and it's difficult to find a place to park.

Naples... Hmmm. Arriving there the night before I always choose to stay safe and stay at motorway services - even though I got robbed there once on the A1 between Rome and Naples. Beautiful skyline, and I enjoy driving through Naples for kicks... Accidents left right and centre makes it a joy to drive through... But when you do, always keep you valuables locked in your glove compartment. And watch out for stray dogs, they are absolutely everywhere.

Thanks, I think it is very valuable to have an opinion from someone who drives a lot and in so many countries.

As for Naples... I lived there for a couple of months but I didn't have a car yet so I didn't drive there at all...
My heart bleeds whenever I think about such a wonderful city with such huge problems...

I think I may have a few of Hungary, I'll have to dig deep for them. I used to go to Budapest a lot, and the Nokia plant at Komaron was a regular. We started doing Romania, when they moved the Nokia plant from Bochum, Germany to Cluj-Napoca... It was an experience the first time I went there. That first town after the Hungarian border looks very much like Ceausescu built it himself. But going through these villages, with all these Gipsy's on horse and carriage and in traditional clothing really was an experience. After delivering in Cluj in the evening, I was trying to make it back to Hungary, rather then sleep in my van in Romania for safety reasons, but I still had to eat. So I found a nice little restaurant that did chicken, and I asked for a glass of Romanian wine. But she misunderstood, and I got a whole bottle. Reason enough to stay the night in the hotel attached, and I was really impressed with the quality of food, wine and room for 30 Euro's all together...

Why do you (your company) use a RHD van, even if it is used mostly on the continent? Do you have problems with headlamps?

RHD is still cheaper in insurance if it's British registered. And no, I never have problems with headlights. If you leave them in position 2, you won't be blinding anyone. We laugh at the tourists at Dover, who are desperately trying to adjust them with sticker tape, five minutes before they are about to board the ferry. We never bother.

I'll get them up for you in the next few days. You live in Helsingborg? Got pictures of that as well, from a distance at Helsingor, as well as getting of the ferry at Helsingborg. Route via E4 Stockholm, Sundsvall, then cut across towards Vilaminastad...
