Sounds fantastic.

When is Rome's pitiful subway going to have more lines added. There is no reason a city that big should have TWO lines!!!

Lo and behold, Rome's two new planned subway lines, C and D:

Shouldn't be completed before 2020, though. Both line C and D are to run directly underneath the historic city centre (line C even directly below the Forum Romanum and the St. Peter's Cathedral!), so I'd guess that all the delays due to archaeological excavations will bring the project well beyond the 2040's...

Wow, great news! Who is paying for it? The city, province or country?

Yes great news for Milano. It shows healthy investment in increasing both the metro and suburban network.

Thanks, these metro expansion updates from both Milano and Roma are really appreciated. Both cities have really interesting transit systems & this will add even better.

I think 70 or 80 km/h... same for Sirio

Anyway i do not agree 31 or 15 are suburban lines: they cross Milan municipality borders, but actually they are urban (even if fares are different). Not only because they remain in urban areas, but for their service: high frequency and total 'integration' with the rest of the web

While 178 and 179 are suburban: they run in suburbs, remaining always in urban area though, but have a bit different service. Infact their frequency is 'low', stops are quite far and have bidirectional convoys (while the rest of Milan tram web got unidirectional ones) with no integration with other lines
They want to 'upgrade' 'em, anyway
