The new station "Cesano Maderno Groane" opened today on the line S9.
The station names are quite confusing now:
- Cesano Maderno
- Cesano Maderno Groane
- Ceriano Laghetto Groane
- Ceriano Laghetto-Solaro

Unfortunately just 30 min.
It needs a 15 min. or at least a superposition of other S lines service in the stretches where there ain't any

This is the timetable http://www.trasporti.regione.lombard..._rev130516.pdf

It's an excerpt from the suburban bus map, with trains. I'm not sure, but it seems part of the cover of time-table booklets which the regional government released many years ago. I've never seen a complete map, of course it must exist, maybe it was never published as a whole, must have been very big!
The graphic concept was made by a company that I remember named "DA Grafiche" (or similar, they made the complete concept for the maps, and also that of the milanese Railway-Link station's lay-out), but I cannot find any reference in the net. Hope this could be a hint for someone more "reliable".

Interesting, thanks! I wonder if there is a contemporary version of the map. This diagram showing the suburban trains alone was all I found: http://www.trenord.it/media/395777/sfs_a4_dic2012.pdf

My concern is that I cannot find even an image of those booklets I've mentioned. It's a pity!
I've never seen somethig similar after that...and still waiting for a proper map like those existing in Germany or anywhere else. If You're succesful, please advise! Thanks in advance!

True. Milan is one of the few major cities that still lack a true integrated transit map (i.e. a map combining rail and bus, inner city and suburban routes).

If I had access to information on individual bus routes (local, express, limited, etc) and rail lines (tram + suburban network), I could put something together for you.

This was the map for Milan itself, and you can see: it's the same pattern. But what about a complete map showing, not only Milan, but the whole region?
That's, I guess, Major Deegan is looking for. And I miss, nowadays something similar made on common design patterns, for all services.

About the map posted: you may like it or not, but it was an impressive piece of design. 1982: at dawn of CAD era!

friedrichstrasse, that is a very impressive map and would have been very challenging to pull off at the time. The labels are slightly off (the black plate was probably off-register during printing).

Anyway it's quite incomprehensible, even for me living in Milan and loving maps...

But You must admit that's an impressive piece of art, and at this point let me quote Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear when he is talking about Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, defining "art" at this point: "5m30s" of this video:

Look at whole video, there's also a little bit of Milan in it, just the name and the badge in case.

A map made by a private user (www.msrmilano.com) showing the metros and suburban railways with the extensions previewed to 2015.
