Not really, they are very different. You can see a description of both on wikipedia, here and here.

Both of them are 29 mt. long, but while the ones of Milan are divided into three parts and have four bogies, the ones of Turin are only divided into two parts and have three bogies.

So the milanese can travel on every tramway line, as they do since 35 years. The turinese could only travel on some special light rail lines, that despite the plans were never built (only the line 3 could be used after some works). The milanese have been quite successful, the turinese a complete failure, even thought both cities haven't built the planned light rails.

The original Milan Metro trains:

Author: Milano Italian Style

Turns out they're just as old as our bygone A-Stock trains in London and the R32s of New York City.

Currently about 12 km (2 km M1 extension, more than 3 km of M4 stretch between Linate and Forlanini FS, 6.4 km of M5 between Garibaldi and San Siro) with 15 stations under construction.

At the beginning of the next year the rest of M4 will start.
Other 12 km with 18 stations

How the heck one can sit there comfortably?
Is this a prison train? Sort of torture?

The goal is to maximize transportation capacity at expense of seating. Yet, sounds a little odd to me, since line 1 is quite long and has a lot of directional flows each peak (morning/afternoon). Usually they put these longitudinal seats in lines that have a lot of transfer points to other lines, when passengers are not expected to stay on the train for long.

Longitudinal seating is common in metros, but that is not the point here. Those seats look terrible to sit on. My arse starts hurting by just looking at it. The design of the interior isn't really my liking by the way, but the exterior looks great.
